Laura Ingraham and Bill O'Reilly had a conversation about VP nominees and reaching out to conservatives last night. O'Reilly felt that McCain would be smart and might pick Romney. Laura Ingraham did not feel that was likely and he would more likely go in "another direction" and might pick Huckabee, but also, that yesterday's speech to CPAC could be the last we would hear from McCain on conservatism for quite a while.

At least w McCain...we can now sort out the real conservatives from the liberals

The real conservatives will not vote for McCain for any reason. A donkey in elephant clothing is still a donkey.

The liberals will push the false-mantra “If we dont vote for him we get Hillary/Obama”....the same kind of crap that has the GOP in the position they are today....trying to sell liberals as conservatives

He's making a big mistake if he goes that route. He isn't someone that listens to advice or can humble himself, so I think she may be right. I kept thinking that during the speech--he better not think this is enough to do the trick. There's some mighty cheesed off folks out here and one speech will not cut it. It's going to take some actions and even then it might not be enough.

Of course O'Reilly would think that. He's got no imagination at all so number one picking number two seems like the best idea to him. Putz.

Laura is right, as usual. McCain now has zero incentive to make nice with conservatives. He'll only do so when his campaign is ten miles deep in horse crap like Christie Todd Whitman was in 1993 which forced her to throw a Hail Mary in the form of a huge tax cut.
