Romney Leads in Maine GOP Caucuses By Glenn Adams Associated Press Writer Fwbruary 2, 2008
CBNNews.com - AUGUSTA, Maine - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is off to an early lead in the Maine GOP caucuses.
Maine has a different way of doing things. It's Republican caucuses began on Thursday, with a couple dozen jumipng in on Friday, but most of them began on Saturday. The remainder join in on Sunday.
The stakes are fairly big in Maine, as the nonbinding caucuses are the first stage toward electing the 18 delegates to the Republican National Convention.
Turning the tables, McCain is chasing the coattails of Romney in the Pine Tree State, where more than 400 caucuses are taking place.

But, but, the liberal press is telling us we LOVE McCain and only McCain.
Damn, Ron Paul should be winning this.
This is the first hint of decent news I’ve heard all week.
GO MITT. The Bobsey Twins—Snowe and Collins endorsed McQueeg.
Diebold machines are stealing votes from Paul and giving them to Romney.
This is the guy to watch coming out of Maine. Dean Scontras has brought back excitement into the Republican Party.
On the eve of Superbowl XLII, Republican Congressional Candidate Dean Scontras received a major endorsement from former New England Patriots Head Coach Dick MacPherson. Coach MacPherson was born and raised in Old Town, Maine, graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and served honorably in the United States Air Force.
“Dean comes from a strong family and was raised with strong principles,” said Coach MacPherson. “He is a tenacious competitor, with tireless energy and a boundless spirit. He will make a worthy candidate and a Congressman that Maine can be proud of!”
Jack Cosgrove, current Head Coach of the University of Maine Black Bears, also weighed in with his endorsement.
“If Dean Scontras models leadership as a Congressman in the same manner he did as a wide receiver in our Black Bear football program, the state of Maine will score a touchdown,” said Cosgrove.
STAY TUNED!!!
They must also agree with his choice of Dr. Juan Hernandez joining his campaign team:
Dr. Juan Hernandez on John McCains campaign staff as a 'non-paid volunteer' as a McCain spokesman said.
U.S.-born dual citizen Juan Hernandez was in Vincente Fox's cabinet as Director of the Office for Mexicans Living Abroad and is notorious for having said of Mexican Americans on Nightline on June 7, 2001, "I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think 'Mexico first.'"
From Amerpundit:
This is a man who insisted that any securing of the borders was racist, and closed-borders proponents were equivalent to Nazis.
By the way, he himself is a dual citizen born in Texas, universityteaching at the University of Texas and on the Vicente Fox cabinet. And he said, I work with the community in the United States, the Mexican community because I dont want them essentially going native on us. We want them continually tied emotionally, linguistically, politically to Mexico, because then theyll continue to send money home.
From GatewayPundit:
Juan Hernandez, head of the Mexican government's Office of Mexicans Living Outside Mexico, told U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo that the North American southwest "is not two countries; it's just a region."
From www.juanhernandez.org:
Last month, when Hernandez appeared to endorse issuing a so-called ''survival kit'' to help Mexican migrants safely cross the border into the USA, U.S. officials criticized the proposal and demanded an explanation. Hernandez quickly backed down.
Hernandez:
"I believe it is time now for Congress to put the issue of immigration on a front burner before the next election cycle causes the issue to become mired in election-year politics."
In 1996, Hernández invited Vicente Fox (then Governor of the Mexican State of Guanajuato) to speak at UT, Dallas and meet George W. Bush (then Governor of Texas) -- a historical meeting that marked a new outlook in Mexico-U.S. relations.
After beating the party that had ruled for over 71 years, President Fox hired Hernandez as the first US-born cabinet member, heading the Presidents Office for Mexicans Abroad. Operating from Los Pinos (the Mexican White House), the Office had as its principal objective to serve and dignify the 24 million whom President Fox has called heroes -- the countrymen who live in foreign lands.
Hernandez speaking of banks and illegals:
It is difficult for those who struggle with English to have the self-assurance to open an account and discuss financial transactions when that conversation is more likely to lead to confusion than to certitude. Imagine yourself trying to open a bank account in Paris with only halting knowledge of French. So the first request to financial institutions on my Christmas list is to try to ensure there is at least one person trained to speak Spanish in any branch of your institution.
Hernandez:
We must not only have a free flow of goods and services, but also start working for a free flow of people."
Juan Hernandez also created The Organization for Hispanic Advancement, (HispanA, a non-profit 5O1c3).
From the www.hispanicorganization.com website:
In April of 1996, Juan Hernández, former professor at The University of Texas at Dallas, and Vicente Fox, now President of Mexico, began a long conversation on the need for greater recognition and further advancement of Hispanics in the U.S. and Mexican societies. The conversation was joined by many others over the years, including President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton, former President Jimmy Carter, many governors, legislators, business leaders, heads of La Raza, LULAC, Maldef, directors of town-home associations, media experts, migration researchers, priests and pastors.
BTTT!!!!!
“It used to be said, as goes Maine, so goes the Nation.”
Are the polar caps melting in Maine?
I am interested in finding out how many members of the local Veterans for Peace will be showing up to support Ron Paul. They usually go for Kucinich.
“Damn, Ron Paul should be winning this
I am actually going to root for that little man and hope he remains in second in this one.”
I just answered a McCain phone poll in Georgia. I picked 1) Romney and 2) Ron Paul.
Reason: “character.”
Why? Think this nut case would ever be President?
I am sitting here waiting for my list of 100 numbers to call for the Romney campaign. I am anxious to get started.

See a stolen election is a limiting of options. In the case of 2004 Ohio, fraud brought our options from two choices down to one.
But that election was stolen long before then. I mean really, just how much did you like those two choices?
Did you like John McCain until that false rumor began about his adopted child of color being the result of an illicit affair? Did you like Howard Dean until that yelling thing happened and the networks showed it over and over again?
No bullet needed for Dean, no bloody end for McCain; why really assassinate them when character assassination does just fine?
Well this week I stood in Maines Hall of Flags with a candidate whose days are numbered. Not because they deserve to be, but because he just wont get a fair chance. Hes under-funded and marginalized and ridiculed and at times worse treated like he doesnt exist. The election stealers wont stop until Ron Paul has gone the way of Dennis Kucinich and all the “opposition” voices are silenced.
And dont even get me started about the third party choices that you will never get.
No, by Election Day youll substantively have only two choices. And the election will go to a friend of drug companies, insurance companies, imperialism and war.
Oh look! Your purse is missing too.

Maine :
Although most voters in Maine will continue to cast a paper ballot by the methods theyve become accustomed to, each voting location in Maine will feature one accessible voting device. This will enable the State to comply with the federal requirements of the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
A voting system based on paper ballots, ballot markers, and ballot scanners provides the most accessible, auditable, secure, practical and economical choice among currently available voting systems.
It makes sens that those results are similar to Nevada's returns
They both are sagebrush country
