I ain’t all that thrilled about Romney; he has become a conservative only recently.

But I will never vote for McLame.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Rather a convert than a “novert”

There is something childish about all the stupid name games — e.g. “McLame”, “Hitlery”, etc. etc. Sorry to single you out when so many others are also guilty of it, but it gets tiring. Just make your point like an adult.

True, Romney is a recent convert to conservativism. However do not overlook his highly successful business background. IMO that is what the eocnomy needs right now more than anything else. McCain, Obama, Hillary are all incompetent on economics.

My view is Romney is not conservative; McCain is anti-conservative. There is a difference, and if Romney feels a need to honor his campaign promises (and all indications are that he has more honor than most politicians) then he will at least govern as a conservative to some extent. McCain will come in looking to screw everyone on the conservative side. Arnold will be his role model.

With Romney, we move forward, however slowly, while we regroup and try to find a new generation of conservative leadership. Reagan is gone, Newt has gone soft, Delay is crippled and Hunter and DeMint are not well known. A strong leader to coalesce around will be needed to re-grow the conservative base that Bush I and II squandered. Romney may be 4 steps forward and 3 steps back, but we are still going in the right direction. McCain sends the movement backwards; he aims to kill it and he will try mightily.
