My friends, I have to admit that I've been in a bit of a quandary since the Real Conservatives ® Thompson and Hunter dropped out of the race leaving us to to place our bets on one the four headless horsemen. But after having a day or three to sort it all out, I'm beginning to see a ray of hope.
Number one, my worst fear that the pro-abortion, pro-gay, anti-gun social liberal Rudy Giuliani might be nominated, and thereby bring an abrupt and unholy end to the pro-life conservative movement within the GOP has been allayed. His evil culture of death platform has been soundly rejected by the Republican voters. Thank God! If nothing else is gained, that alone is a huge victory for us!
And that leaves us with the unwelcome slippery task of having to determine and select the least evil of the three remaining RINOs. But wait! When choosing between evils, why not choose the good?
McCain is insane and there are many good reasons not to choose him, but I'll list just five: McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, the Keating 5, and the Gang of 14. No thanks. McCain is out!
Romney ran on a pro-abortion platform, is pro gay rights, is prone to BIG government solutions, promises anything to anyone for a vote, and flip-flops on important issues. Can't trust him.
Now Governor Huckabee. Could this be the good vs evil? He's a Baptist minister. A genuine 100% pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, Southron Christian social conservative!
And that would be my reason no. 1 to support Huckabee. He has the trust and backing of the Christian evangelicals and the support of the Bible Belt. You cannot win the presidency without the South, and I believe the pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-America Mike Huckabee is the most likely of the three GOP hopefuls to carry the South. And that's a pretty darn good reason!
My number two reason is that he is NOT McCain (and that's a pretty darn good reason too).
Number three (and this will be a tough one for a lot of my FReeper Friends) is that he is NOT Romney.
Numbers four and five are he's NOT Hillary and NOT Obama. Oohrah!
Number six, he plays a mean bass and he's a traditional favorite at Free Republic's infamous quadrennial Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC. Perhaps we could persuade President Huckabee to drop by our ball and perform his rocking rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama!" Now, wouldn't that be a hoot!
Number seven, if we can keep Huckabee in the race all the way through, thus preventing McCain or Romney from gaining enough delegates to win the nomination, then maybe, just maybe a deadlocked convention might seek out another candidate. One who can re-unite the Reagan Coalition, save the GOP, and put us back on the conservative track. Of course, my personal favorite to be that man would be FRed Thompson.
Woo hoo!!
Let it ring out through grassroots America and on to the convention! Support life! Support the GOP! Support Huckabee! And re-draft FRed Thompson!!

These primaries.....the delegates. Are they bound by the primaries / rules / law to vote for say McCain if he won their state or can they change their mind at the convention ?

I would rather have a nominee who lied to the democrats and then governed as a conservative, then a nominee who lied to the republicans and will lead as a liberal!
He’s defending abortion. Even promoting it. And as governor he ultimately follows through by appointing a gaggle of liberal judges and instituting his infamous Planned Parenthood approved RomneyCare government subsidized forced health care plan that provides $50 co-pay abortions. Gay marriage was also instituted on his watch. Only state in the union to do so. He’s made great strides in implementing the liberal/socialist agenda.
But it’s not his fault. The liberals made him do it.
And all the while, as a Bishop and Stake President aggressively counseling his congregates against abortion, even going to the clinic where one was having one and letting her have it!
Actions speak volumes my FRiend, words are for politicians. I don’t like Mitt’s politicking, but I loudly applaud his actions, his very pro life actions.

None of us know the truth of his secret counseling, but many of us accept that he might share one instruction within his “flock” and another out here as a politician, in fact we have video, do you?
You need a #8 - If it is true that Huckabee is trying to play spoiler for McCain then it logically follows that Huckabee will not drop out before McCain wins the nomination. McCain is relying upon Romney voters to remain loyal and thus split the conservative vote. Huckabee will not leave with a VP spot on the line nor will most of his supporters vote for Romney. This means the only possible move is not to play into McCain’s hand and do the unexpected by knocking McCain out of the drivers seat by putting Huckabee in front on Tuesday. This will then leave room for Romney to fight a much weaker McCain and a broke Huckabee. Without a solid conservative turnout for Huckabee, McCain will checkmate on Tuesday! Give up the queen now and conservatives live to fight on.
He never governed as a pro abortionist, get over it.

Choice A "Those embryos, I hope, could be available for adoption for people who would like to adopt embryos..." Wow! Mitt! That is so greeeeaaaaaaat!!! We finally get a POTUS candidate willing to talk about embryo adoption of these frozen orphaned ones!!! Rah, Rah, Romney!!!! Yeaaaahhhhh!!!!
Choice B [THE VERY NEXT SENTENCE OUT OF ROMNEY'S MOUTH!!!]: "...BUT, if a parent decides they would want to DONATE one of those embryos for purposes of research," [Research = dissection] "...in my view, that's acceptable. Seven, one thing that's worse than an ignorant person killing such a little creation of God's because they're in denial of the personhood & humanity of that creature is one who advocates with full knowledge and intelligence that this same act be conducted...even if their hands remain blood free of the act. With the former act, you'll have exactly one dead embryo. With the latter verbal advocacy, who knows how many dead embryos will accumulate?

I always thought that my discussion with the Mormon Bishop in New Mexico was secret, you are saying that it wasn’t?
Not when the person getting the counseling blabs to the press it’s not.
If you went and talked to someone after getting counseling in New Mexico, would you then consider it still secret?
Mitt hasn’t addressed this, which I admire him for, he has held that sacred silence, regardless of what this woman did, even though it hurt him with his liberal electorate in Mass.
You are talking about one possible case, not all of his counseling, are you going to answer post 718?
