NEVER governed conservatively? Did you read the article at all? Why did the Citizens for Life organization give Romney the Leadership Award in Mass.? If he wasn’t really a conservative, why do all these conservative leaders that we’ve counted on over the last couple of decades or so, say he’s conservative & in many cases endorse him?

These are folks who have carried the conservative banner for a long time. How much have you done for the conservative movement in comparison? Are you so audacious as to think you know better than them? Please share w/ us your credentials.

OK, let's first examine the history of MA Citizen For Life. Now we all know that Romney tried to run to the left of opponent Ted Kennedy in 1994. Despite that, what did MA Citizen for Life do? Why they endorsed Romney! According to American Spectator:

In fact, Romney has always had a complicated relationship with pro-lifers. His run against Kennedy in 1994, his first candidacy for public office, was characterized by debate and confusion over his stand on abortion. He accepted an endorsement from Massachusetts Citizens for Life while vying for the Republican nomination. But he declared himself to have been pro-choice even before Roe v. Wade, having joined his mother in support of legal abortion during her failed 1970 Senate bid from Michigan. Romney retained the Massachusetts Citizens for Life endorsement because he supported parental-consent laws, opposed taxpayer-funded abortion or mandatory abortion coverage under a national health insurance plan and was against the Freedom of Choice Act that would have codified Roe (later in the campaign, he said might be willing to support another version of the legislation. Then, how did MA Citizens for Life view Romney during his gubernatorial years? Despite its Exec Director saying that "Having Governor Romney in the corner office for the last four years has been one of the strongest assets the pro-life movement has had in Massachusetts. what did she say during those governing years?

In 2002 during his campaign run, Sturgis said: "...her group had never offered an endorsement to Romney. Romney is 'not pro-life and does not meet their requirements.' (MIT News, 11-1-02) In March 2005, Sturgis "said she hasn't detected any change in Romney's stance. The group considers Romney to be an abortion-rights supporter, as do national antiabortion groups such as the Family Research Council." (Boston Globe, 3-05) In May 2005, MCFL doubted the sincerity of Romney's move to pro-life positions: "Massachusetts Citizens for Life says it considers Romney to be an abortion-rights supporter, and it is unimpressed with those moves." (Boston Globe, 5-25-05). Sources: Boston Globe, MIT News and http://massresistance.blogspot.com/2007/03/mass-citizens-for-life-changed-its-tune.html

Sorry, nobody's going to goad me into boasting. (And I don't have a godhood throne waiting dependent upon my good works, as if an omniscient God needed his mind changed about whom I am inside and out)
