These “snow days” are oftentimes ridiculous. I often wonder as I drive to work in snow, why they cancel school for 1-2 inches.

Well, don't forget that 98% of the kids probably aren't travelling the same route as you are...

In my area, it can be fairly clear in one part of the county, but much worse in the higher-elevation northern part of the county. It's an all-or-nothing call on shutting down county schools. Plus, in the more rural areas, the busses have some treacherous roads to travel, with a long drop to a lake or stream, and up hills as steep as a calf's face. Many of the routes are scary enough to drive even in good weather... lol

And had the kids been sent home and one skidded off the road and died, we’d be reading about how they were sent home at the wrong time, before the roads were cleared...

I seriously wonder why ANY adult has anything whatsoever to do with public schools!

What our kids have learned from our incessant PC society is that everyone’s a great armchair QB, are experts on virtually every and anything, question virtually each and every decision made to the pont that people don’t know WHAT to do and how to blame everyone and anyone and rationalize their own poor behavior and exploit all of the above!
