Fred Gets Feisty
NEWSWEEK ^ | January 17, 2008 | Andrew Romano

PROSPERITY, S.C.--Fred Thompson is punctual. So punctual, in fact, that when I arrived at 12:23 this afternoon for his 12:20 appearance at the Stable Steakhouse here in Prosperity--thinking that he'd start at least 30 minutes late, like nearly every other presidential candidate--Thompson was already speaking. I asked the hostess how long he'd been at it. She said three minutes.

FRed has no fire in his belly!/s

Rep Definition of "fire in the belly": Candidate wants to serve, but hates the ridiculous process.

Dem Definition of "fire in the belly": Candidate does whatever it takes to pander, bribe, lie, cheat, steal, sell their soul to the devil, disparage opponents, modify their past, fabricate great past events, spin their voting record, obfuscate their past public service history, enhance their resume, and use someone else's personal tragedy to make their case.

As I’ve said, Fred could have flames shooting out his butt and some folks would still say he doesn’t have the “fire in his belly,”

They will say nothing because they are lying hypocrites like Huck. Christ saved His greatest scorn for hypocrites. Rightfully so.

Actually, sand, many of the people at Huck's Army are dedicated, sincere young people ... including a couple of my own children.

And actually Christ saved his greatest scorn for those who judgmentally look down their noses at others ... such as labelling an entire group of people you don't even know as "lying hypocrites."

I'm being a little facetious, 'cause I don't think you meant any harm by it ... but just sayin'....

Huckabee is bearing false witness against his brother. Hmmmm...now where have I heard that before?

I think he'll find the (ultimate) end doesn't justify the means.

Common Sense Issues the outfit behind this Push Polling is the sleazy outfit which is backing Huckabee. I have not heard complaints against any of the other candidates concerning the use of this type of sleazy campaigning. It is solely the supporters of Huckabee who are doing this.

This tells me a lot about those so called evangelicals who call themselves Christians.

The Huckabee campaign says they are not behind this and can't stop it. I call BS. Huckabee did this exact same type of dirty campaigning when he announced to the national press he was pulling a negative TV ad and then went ahead and showed the ad (he did not have the money to get in on the air so he got a freebie)... and when the nine or so TV stations they overlooked in telling not to show it showed it his campaign said they did not know that happened! More BS.

So if you are an Evangelical Christian and you are supporting Huckabee I guess you are OK with and supporting this type of lying and sleaze in his campaign and you are NOT a Christian but certainly Evangelical!

of course I did not intend to include those supporters with good intentions. They are being doubly wronged. I was addressing the top operatives who approve such unscrupulous actions. I am sorry if I came across the wrong way.

"Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."

"This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me; in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men." (Matthew 15:1-9 RSV)

Huckabee: The Constitution Should Be Amended To Conform To The Word Of God (video included)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1954097/posts

Here is his exact quote:

I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the constitution.
But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God.

And that’s what we need to do is to amend the constitution so it’s in Gods standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.

Huckabee’s an unctuous, smarmy snake.

Those mesmerized by his lies will see the real him sooner or later and wonder how they could’ve been so blind.

what passes for education, even at highly rated private schools, is laughable. Critical thinking skills are rarely taught. I see what is produced by our "fine" universities. It is disheartening to say the least.

Actually, your statement is laughable and shows a lack of education on your part!

We'll see how Huckabee responds. So far his spokesman has said that, although Huck would like the calls to stop, "it's a free country." With two days to go--and polls in must-win South Carolina showing him in fourth-place--it may be too little, too late for Thompson.

On the same level as showing the press the attack ad that he was too noble to put on Iowa TV stations.
