PROSPERITY, S.C.--Fred Thompson is punctual. So punctual, in fact, that when I arrived at 12:23 this afternoon for his 12:20 appearance at the Stable Steakhouse here in Prosperity--thinking that he'd start at least 30 minutes late, like nearly every other presidential candidate--Thompson was already speaking. I asked the hostess how long he'd been at it. She said three minutes.

Being a pack-minded member of the national media, I was ready to interpret this as a sign of Thompsonian lethargy--the former Tennessee senator doesn't rack up delays because he only makes one or two retail stops a day (unlike, say, John McCain, who typically makes five to seven). There's some truth to this. "I never intended on being a professional politician," he said early on. "Still don't." Not exactly the best way to quiet critics who say you don't have the drive to be president. And the opening section of his stump speech--a drawling, drawn-out disquisition on the Founding Fathers--belongs in a high-school history classroom, not on the campaign trail. Interesting comment by the author. Considering that most of the Founding Fathers (eg. George Washington) believed that they were to take office reluctantly, serve judiciously, and return home, you might need to listen to his speech on the ideas of the Founding Fathers, eh?

I so hope this backfires on the snake Huck.

Huck can go to H*ll! I read the article. Huck calls himself a Christian. What he is purposely doing is not at all Christian. Huck is a perfect example of a hypocrite. He is equally as despicable as McCain. The are willfully out to destroy the GOP and more importantly, our Republic. Damn them both.

I so hope this backfires on the snake Huck. Not if the MSM and FOX have their way. True Conservatives are in the cross hairs of Liberals in both parties.

What do the christian worshipers over at Huck’s Army forum think of this push polling?
Don’t see them talking much of it.

Though I completely agree with you and GW (The 1st) most people don’t understand what a true statesman and patriot is. They don’t understand doing something for the good of the country instead of for the good of self.

You are right. Lazy people are rarely punctual.
It also shows he has respect for others and their time.
I hope SC gets an independent streak going and refuses to listen to polls, media, or naysayers concerning Fred’s chances. He can win if they vote for the conservative they like, want, and need.

The reporter of course needs to do some homework or at least listen or not comment on a beginning of a speech he missed. Maybe if he listened as a reporter should instead of having written his report before he walked in the door he might have learned something. I doubt he knows very much about the forefathers or what they actually stood for. To him its ancient boring history.

Dont see them talking much of it. They will say nothing because they are lying hypocrites like Huck. Christ saved His greatest scorn for hypocrites. Rightfully so.

The reporter of course needs to do some homework or at least listen what passes for education, even at highly rated private schools, is laughable. Critical thinking skills are rarely taught. I see what is produced by our "fine" universities. It is disheartening to say the least.
