I used to play weekends at a soul food joint that had gator on the menu.

Never had it though. I was too busy scarfin on the crawdads.

Never had gator, did have squirrel when I was very very young, grandmother used to make squirrel stew and pass it off as chicken stew, us kids didn’t know for years! I’ve had all the other usual suspects, deer, moose, grouse, moose is fantastic, ate it for months and didn’t know the difference between it and beef and when I was told I was too far hooked to care!
