I am willing to call them whatever they want. I always thought “Indian” was an insult to them.

The activists want a grievance--the first thing they do is start insisting on restricting the speech of others and trying to throw them on the defensive just for using the language the way they have always heard it. Happens with every group that starts having some pull. Look at "Queer Studies"--used to be "queer" was perjorative. Now you can say "queer" but you can't say "faggot".

I particularly detest being bullied into saying "African American" instead of the single syllable "black". Black and white. It's about race, after all, for all the pretenses otherwise.

And I know a few white Americans from Africa!
