Hillary's Debate Moment (YouTube Link included)
ABC News ^ | 6 Jan 08 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 01/06/2008 3:29:58 AM PST by SkyPilot

It won't come across on the transcript, but Sen. Hillary Clinton got angry during the debate tonight.

She was bickering with Sen. Barack Obama about their differences on health insurance, and whether Obama's plan leaves millions of Americans uninsured.

And then she … well … she got angry.

Frankly, I don't even really understand what she was saying. What I was getting was how angry she is. Not about an issue, so much, as about the fact that Obama is beating her.

The clip, I predict, will be played again and again and again.

Pundits will say that her tone made male voters recoil. And led some female voters to sneer.

Clinton people are spinning this as her projecting strength. I do not think that will be the widely-head view.

HERE's THE VIDEO LINK, already posted by Clinton enemies and the debate isn't even over yet.

Tell me what you think.

-- jpt

UPDATE: She just had another weird moment, too, where she seemed to blame Natalie Sarkisyan's death on John Edwards' inability to get the Patients Bill of Rights passed in the House.

I should add that this angry Hillary Clinton is NOT one I've ever seen at the Senate, on the stump, or in interviews. But I fear her performance tonight, in contrast to Obama's coolness and Edwards' Southern drawl, feeds into stereotypes about her. She tried to address this by dismissing "likeability" as a factor -- that Americans in 2000 would have preferred to have a beer with George W. Bush than Al Gore, and look how that worked out. But still.

she was assertive and passionate in a way that were she a male, would have been a plus for her

And that is where the liberal fantasy stops, in this case. Women and men are not alike; they are different. What works for a man does not always work for a woman, and what works for a woman does not always work for a man. No matter how much the liberal feminists from the '60's attempt to defy biology, this is true. And women who try to act like men come across poorly.

Since most people in this country are heterosexual, and respect, if not follow, the concept of monogamy, people from either sex who try to act like the other sex will look strange or unpleasant. That might appeal to a small base, but not the majority.

Thank goodness for the Internet and YouTube. A decade ago she might have been able to get away with it. Now every one can see her flaws unfiltered precisely because the MSM is no longer the news gatekeeper.

Yeah, lots of fights going on within the change gang. The most depressing political discourse I’ve ever seen. To snap out of it they need to mention making change to the NYC deli operaters - see how far that will get them. Didn’t they watch the South Park episode to see how ridiculous they all look and sound?

On second thought, if they get more specific in their discourse, it’s just socialism with an occasional strand of inconvenient impurity. Ugly stuff. I don’t see how a person with any common sense at all can tolerate the verbal “change” assaults. Common sense -does it exit in the Democrat party?

I agree. Say she splits NY and CA with Obama, she still has to worry about the whole southern tier. Just being a democrat ain’t gonna help her one twit with the black vote. And that means Chicago and Detroit as well.

If I was an oddsmaker, I wouldn’t call her a longshot yet, but it’s not looking good. (for her, I mean. It’s fine with me!!)

Hillary is claiming success for 35 years of accomplishments that never happened.

You picked that up too?

She is just desperate now - lying uncontrollably.

The "35 years experience" lie is just like this one:

Hillary says she risked life on White House trips

She is acting like a high school drop out who is cutting and pasting together a phony resume on the Internet.

As far as this "risking her life" story - it is typical Hillary, and typical Clinton.

I was an airlift pilot during the mid-90's with the USAF, and it was my squadron that flew her to Bosnia on a C-17.

She was never, ever in danger. She traveled to Tuzla with Chelsea and Sheryl Crow for a USO show.

She traveled in luxury, with incredible security, where ever she went.

Moreover, the rest of her trips were self-titled "chick trips" (and even the NY Slimes used that term).

Silent is one thing Mrs. Clinton has not been on this official goodwill visit to five South Asian countries, a journey that her Wellesley classmate Martha Teichner, who is covering the tour for CBS News, described jocularly on the air as a "chick trip." It blends the giddiness of a sorority spring break with the sober feel of a graduate seminar on the responsibilities of sisterhood. Traveling with her entourage of senior aides, almost all of them women...

I thought Hillary's body language was a clear conveyance of her frustration. She continually used her hands in a "hammering motion" as if she was attempting to pound her words into people's heads like serated metal spikes. She was clearly affronted by any contention to her talking points.

What hit me was how she brought back images of Kruschev pounding his shoe at the UN. "We will bury you!" and all that.

I will say, though. She did present herself far better than she has on previous occasions. I didn't really pick up on the screech factor that much in this appearance, and that's to her advantage.

The most exciting thing is that Obama has raised the level of the debate just by presenting a realistic threat to Hillary's nomination.

Note to Hillary: Try placing that deckchair by the rail - that's better!

Agreed. Women have a good deal of sway if they are feminine. Most women have learned to get what they want by wielding their power unobtrusively and in the background. Hillary's in your face stuff and finger wagging declarations just turn people off. That might be acceptable from a man but even in this liberated era, few people like that kind of assertiveness from a woman. So its a handicap for her precisely because she's female and crosses a gender line so to speak.

The video “Undecided Voters in New Hampshire” is still on youtube, and has gotten 42,000 viewers in 8 hours. It is devastating news for the Clintons, if at all representative.

I know.

Guess what?

YouTube not only disabled comments on that video too - they "took down" and removed hundreds of posted comments from last night!

She keeps repeating Ad Nauseum that she was in the White House for eight years.

Like somebody else said, though, “So was the pastry chef!!”

The liberals at YouTube can censor anti-Hillary comments. But they can't stop people from thinking them.

Deja vu! Post 1:On very interesting note, is that YouTube has not only disabled comments for this video, and the video of a New Hampshire focus group commenting on her performance. YouTube has acutally taken down all the comments.

i am no fan of Hillary but i think her response was OK, particularly in the context of the debate.

that said, i still think she is in deep trouble - there just isn't enough lipstick in the world to cover over Hillary's negatives...
