To me he is Bill Clinton without all the personal baggage, with better skills and decision making faculties, shaded to the right, instead of the left.
. . . .shaded to the right . . .
huh?
True conservatives don’t want grey shading. They want their leader to find himself in the “solidness” of true conservatism. The republican base will come to know him as a leftist liberal he is, even though he has an accidental “R” in front of his name.
The nation doesn’t need another southern state ex-governor with a “yuk, yuk” demeanor who believes in the ‘goodness’ of big government.
The Huckster is every democrat’s wet dream. He wins and the conservative movement is *OVER*.
He certainly is playing the same political games that Slick Willy did. And the "Christian aspect" of who he is was responsible for the vast majority of his support in the Iowa caucus. And yes, it will only carry him so far.
Among Iowa republicans who identify themselves as "not evangelical Christians", Huckabee got 14%, about the same as McCain and Thompson. Not exactly "connecting with the larger portion of the electorate."
