A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to Warm Fuzzy Wednesday at the Finest. For those who start counting the days on Monday until the weekend, we're halfway there! So we're here to banish those doldrums and make you smile inside! Please feel free to post sweet graphics and/or little stories that make you feel all warm and fuzzy - or just come by and give us a smile. Only two more days 'til the weekend!

Okay, I thought you were not staying, LOL.

LOL. I know. Every time I say I can't stay, I end up answering just one more ping....or two or three. ;-)

Happy New Year to (((((((Nan and Mr.WV)))))))!

Don't you love bunnies?

I do!! Wouldn't you just love to get your hands on that silky soft fur? Bunnies are one of God's most precious creations.

I am wishing ((((((((jaycee))))))))) the happiest New Year!

Hi MEG. Our problem isn't going to be staying warm, it's going to be staying DRY. We have three BIG storms heading for us. Projected rain totals of between 3 and 7 inches (I am figuring it will be closer to 2 or 3 inches). Sand bags are being made available for people who have flooding problems. Fortunately we don't flood here at home or at our business downtown.

Hugs to you and have a Happy New Year (((((MEG)))))!

We are having a nice Thursday; it has warmed up a bit.

I’m doing great; looking forward to the big storms headed our way. WE’ve had too much frost and very little rain. Maybe 2008 will bring us the needed rain.

Start Today!

READ: Psalm 119:25-32

I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! I will run the course of Your commandments. —Psalm 119:31-32

Many people make resolutions on New Year’s Day, promising themselves (and sometimes God) that the next year of life will be different. We determine that habits are going to be changed and new patterns of behavior developed.

Resolutions like these are highly commendable and can often serve as a stimulus to spiritual growth. But not always. Sometimes our resolutions are carried out only for a little while and all too soon are forgotten.

Samuel Johnson, a deeply committed Christian who lived in the 18th century, frequently wrote resolutions in his journals. Here is a typical entry: “I have corrected no external habits, nor kept any of the resolutions made in the beginning of the year, yet I hope still to be reformed, and not to lose my whole life in idle purposes.”

It is good to engage now and then in self-examination. We should face up to the changes that need to be made, and then make plans for the way we’re going to implement them. For example, if we realize that our devotional habits are weak and inconsistent, let’s resolve to spend some time daily in focused fellowship with God. Let’s ask the Spirit to help us in this consistent practice through all our tomorrows.

Today is a good day to start.

You’ll go forth a little stronger
With a fresh supply of grace,
If each day you meet the Savior
In a secret, quiet place.  —Adams

God speaks to those who take time to listen, and He listens to those who take time to pray.

Happy Thursday, Nan.

I’m looking forward to a nice big storm. The problem with lots of rain here (which we need) is that we are guaranteed the presence of tule fog after the storms move out.

LOL. I meant "down time", as in time off from my usual many duties. Mentally I'm okay. Praising the Lord for His many blessings.

Yes, Miss Em and parents shared Christmas day with us. They came around 1:00 p.m. and we had "Santa" for Em. After all the gift exchanges we had a late dinner. Ended up feeding 10 people. My daughter and her hubby, son's mother-in-law, son's sister-in-law and her fiance, hubby's brother, son, wife, & Em, plus us. Ha. It was chaos, but fun.

Hi MB! Happy New Year again. Do you think it’s okay for me to post so many of son’s portraits? I’m really proud of him as you know. He just gets better and better.

Hi Amy. But the rain is good, yes? In spite of the fog, yes?

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly don't see any problem with it. I think that is what the "Finest" is all about. :-)

I’m really proud of him as you know. He just gets better and better.

I do know that and you have every reason to be proud of him. I have been around professional photography for more years than I want to admit and I know good photography when I see it. Your son is very good and very creative, and Em is quite the little model too! :-)

LOL!! We sure do miss him here, don't we? Maybe if we aim some pings in his direction he might come out of hibernation. (Bears hibernate, but do wolves?)
