Miles above Pennsylvania, a door-seal suddenly cracked. As the cabin depressurized, the pilot nose-dived from 38,000 feet to a safer 9,000. Oxygen masks swung above the heads of horrified travelers.

I agree, Rudy has the best chance to win in the general election. As I said before, I’m not a supporter (”None of the above” is still my choice, though Fred is winning me over a bit, mostly because I don’t find him as loathsome as most of the candidates), but if Rudy wins the nomination he’ll have my support 100% against that Witch. Voting third-party on principle might make you feel good, but it’ll insure 4/8 years of the Clintons back in power and, to me, that’s the worst case scenario.
I disagree with a number of points:
* I am unmarried, but my parents are on their second marriage. They met each other before they divorced their current spouses. Isn’t that somewhat common? The police protected Judith because there were threats. You don’t put mob bosses away without personal risk.
* It is true that Bernard Kerik has issues with his taxes, etc. but this has been blown out of proportion by the media who look for ways to demoralize Republicans. (Clinton had 100x as many bad people who went to jail, left the country, etc.) Kerik accomplished a lot for NY, unlike the Clinton cronies. Sure, Rudy says he was a mistake, but when you appoint 100 people, you are bound to make a mistake or 2.
* Rudy talks about how he gained foreign policy experience as US attorney (dealing with foreign gov’ts in certain situations), as mayor, and in 90 foreign trips after he left office where he met heads of state or other high ranking officials. The only GOP candidate with more foreign policy experience is McCain - is he your choice?
Rudy Giuliani is an effeminate, lisping, limp-wristed lawyer from New York City who probably doesn't even know how to make a fist . . . but he's a "tough guy" on the political scene. Good lord -- what does that say about the so-called "men" who go into national politics these days?

Liz, just curious: are you a Republican? Your perspective and tone sound similar to dailykos! (Well, i don’t read dailykos, but I do read Dummiefunnies!) If you are against the Iraq war, against the idea that the US often has to take responsibility for defending liberty, are not aware that Bush flipped Pakistan which used to support the Taliban, etc. then it makes me wonder.
Your anger and blame America first attitude is much more in line with the Democratic party. Reagan believed strongly in spreading freedom as a means to peace. What do you think of Reagan?
If the dialog on this website has degraded to the point that people don’t understand America’s responsibility in spreading freedom, and filled with snarky allegations that Rudy has a lisp, is effeminate and limp-wristed, then we are little better than dailykos.
BTW, Rudy’s father was a boxer, so I doubt he is as effeminate as you claim.
Murdock makes it sound like Rudy was travelling in a plane with the common folk, sitting next to a stranger. Where was Judi (who always demanded an extra seat for her Louis Vuitton handbag)? And didn’t Rudy’s standard contract in 2005 require that he be shuttled around in a private jet (”a Gulfstream IV or bigger)? This is the guy that turns the plane around when he gets a headache, yet we’re supposed to believe he’s some real-life action hero? Deroy really needs to wear a bib to catch all of that drooling.
When it comes to foreign policy - McCain is the most qualified, that is true. BUT, he has done so much damage to the party that the only way I would ever vote for him, would be if it were between him or Hillary.
I support Fred Thompson, he has more foreign policy experience than Rudy - but that is only a part of the equation. I agree with him most of the time. I disagree with Rudy on most things - so he is not the candidate I want.
This is the way I see it. Hillary would LOVE it if she could run against Rudy - because Rudy couldn’t bring up any dirt on her - she would just bring up dirt on him. Rudy’s baggage cancels Hillary’s baggage, making him the WORST candidate we could nominate. I don’t want to be a Republican because “we’re not as bad as those other guys”. I want to be a Republican because we are better than those other guys.
We must stop downgrading the quality of candidate we choose with each passing election! We have to stop & start upgrading - or we will find ourselves in the same muddy pigsty as they are in.
Rudy’s just not our guy.

Yes, I did watch Rudy on Meet the Press, I thought he stammered and stuttered his way all through it & came off badly, in my view.
As far as the 12 comments - gosh, I learned a long time ago that a politician can sound REAL good and will say anything on the campaign trail to get elected.
How about when he said his marriage vows (so far, 3 different times)? For better or for worse? In sickness & in health? For as long as you both may live?
Why should I believe any of those 12 comments if his wives couldn’t believe the ones he uttered at their wedding? So what, if multiple marriages and public adultery happens all the time - it shows a lot about a person’s character to me - and shows me that Rudy doesn’t have the character to be our President.

It’s the kind of leadership that doesn’t micro-manage and that lets those with expertise in a given area do what they do best. In this case, the pilot. That IS leadership, regardless of your opinion otherwise of Giuliani.
I have checked out some of the articles on the Giuliani Truth file.
When you subtract out the personal issues, the New York Times and other half-true MSM articles, that mayor of NYC is different from prez (for example, control of the border is the responsibility of the federal gov’t), put some of the criticisms in context, etc. the collection is a lot less convincing than it might seem.
You know, I’m not bragging, but if I were in the same situation as of that described on the plane with Rudy - I would have done exactly the same thing!
What good would it have done to get up and in the crew’s way? What good would it have done to get the other passengers upset? What good could I have done to help the situation? I’m glad to hear that Rudy didn’t scream like a little crybaby, but I wouldn’t have either.
I guess that means that I have the leadership to be President too, right?
