Rudy Giuliani: 2008's toughest Republican
Human Events Online ^ | 12/27/2007 | Deroy Murdock

A jet passenger remembers seeing Rudolph W. Giuliani on a Dallas-to-New York flight. Heading home after a March 2005 speech, Giuliani perused a volume of Elizabethan literature.

Miles above Pennsylvania, a door-seal suddenly cracked. As the cabin depressurized, the pilot nose-dived from 38,000 feet to a safer 9,000. Oxygen masks swung above the heads of horrified travelers.

What did Giuliani do? As another, visibly rattled traveler recalled: "He put his mask over his face, picked the book back up, and kept reading Shakespeare." ...

On criteria such as this, I feel I would have to vote for Chuck Norris for president.

Wow. I'm impressed. Rudy can read (or at least look at) literature in low air pressure situations.

I can see why you wouldn’t be impressed. That’s more of a marine attitude that Rudy displayed.

First of all its Marine, not marine. And I doubt a Marine would just sit there reading his book. He’d look around to see if anyone needed help, like most service members would.

You mean Rudy didn't take over the plane and rescue everyone?

In this critical emergency, he just sat on his butt reading?

What kind of leadership is that?

Come on... admit it, he was reading “My Pet Goat”. That book is just riveting. ;-)

He just looked like he was reading ...his mind wondered how he would be judged about abortion, affairs, etc.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm going to vote for Thompson in the primary, but Rudy's going to get the nomination -- despite what my fellow Freepers say. I'll gladly vote for him in the general election.

I am shocked, Shocked, that Rooty did not climb into the cockpit and order the captain to handover the controls so that Rooty could singlehandedly fly the plane to safety, while singing "O Solo Mio," to the frightened passengers.

UGH, the potential of a Hillary v. Rudy Presidential race reminds me of the definition of LOSE-LOSE.

First of all, it is “it’s”, not “its”. We don’t know if Rudy did look around to help his fellow passengers as this description is a very short summary.

You guys are a tough crowd! It should be possible to prefer your own candidate while still recognizing the good qualities of other candidates. There seems to be as much contempt for Rudy as Hillary on FreeRepublic.

I don’t think Guilianni wins the nomination. I live in Florida, his “firewall” and I haven’t seen a poster or a bumper sticker or heard a commercial. I saw Guilianni on TV last night and his pattern baldness and gray on the sides made him look like he had horns and his wierd tic open wide eyes thing didn’t help the impression. He claimed foreign policy experience as mayor of New York. The religious conservatives oppose him over abortion and gay marriage. The Southerners also don’t like in general terms New Yorkers. Etc.

In some ways, Rudy is preferrable to Hillary. It’s just that Rudy is in the wrong party.

LOL! But Rudy appeared the wimp when it came to facing Hillary. Though he did have the nerve to march proudly in the gay parades. But when it comes to national security, Rudy has no clue, wants open borders and amnesty for illegals.
