No offence, but don’t the cops have more important things to do than trying to bait people into committing crimes?

Nice story...at the time the appearance of the teller of “The Good
Samaritan” tale is being celebrated

Instead, what officers found in their sting operation was no shortage of good Samaritans who locked the car, shut the trunk or in one case went into the store to have someone call the police. The Samaritans were promptly arrested and tasered for interfering with a police investigation.

Well I would think a thief would case out the victim. If he/she saw officers continually going to unlock doors or open trunks the thief might get a little suspicious:’)

It’s good to see the good side of people occasionally.
This sounds like our little town. I saw a pair of decent looking sneakers near the bench in the middle of *town*. They were there for weeks. People watch out for each other here.

Oh yeah, an open trunk. That's normal. Reminds me of the Far Side cartoon with the dog trying to lure the cat into the dryer with "Cat Fud" directional arrows.

In Colorado it’s better just to steal the guy and dump it somewhere. The police don’t chase after car thieves in this state. I kid you not.

Much like speed trapping, it sounds easier than real police work.

It should be pointed out that the city of Thousand Oaks is near Los Angeles but has not yet become infected with Illegal Immigrants. This city consistently ranks near the top for the FBIs safest cities list.

ELAINE: The Good Samaritan Law? Are they crazy?
GEORGE: Why would we want to help somebody?
ELAINE: I know.
GEORGE: That’s what nuns and Red Cross workers are for.
KRAMER: The Samaritans were an ancient tribe - very helpful to people.

The police in Arlington, Tx did something similar a couple of weeks ago. A police woman with money and a cell phone easily seen would hang her purse were someone could steal it. Didn’t work! In the course of a day about 20 people told her what she was doing wrong and suggested she be more careful. I thought it was great and said a lot about our community.
