Calling Out the Climate Fearmongers (New study slams climate simulations)
powerline ^ | December 8, 2007

Meanwhile, four climate scientists have dealt another blow to the anthropogenic global warming theory in the December issue of the International Journal of Climatology. They did an exhaustive comparison of observed atmospheric temperatures at various altitudes and compared the data against the predictions of global warming models. The abstract of the article states tersely:

We examine tropospheric temperature trends of 67 runs from 22 Climate of the 20th Century model simulations and try to reconcile them with the best available updated observations (in the tropics during the satellite era). Model results and observed temperature trends are in disagreement in most of the tropical troposphere, being separated by more than twice the uncertainty of the model mean. In layers near 5 km, the modelled trend is 100 to 300% higher than observed, and, above 8 km, modelled and observed trends have opposite signs. These conclusions contrast strongly with those of recent publications based on essentially the same data.

Lead author David Douglass elaborates:

The observed pattern of warming, comparing surface and atmospheric temperature trends, does not show the characteristic fingerprint associated with greenhouse warming. The inescapable conclusion is that the human contribution is not significant and that observed increases in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases make only a negligible contribution to climate warming.

Even a crystal ball powered by a supercomputer is still... a crystal ball.

And they always predict bad things unless a sacrifice is made of course, and always benefitting the fortune teller oddly enough.

Yes ethyl, sh-tasses and all mammals emit CO2 when they breathe, accounting for 99+ percent of all CO2. Fire extinguishers are the big culprit! ( Just to give Ethyl something to chew on.)

Good article but it will be dashed by the MSM and most will never see or hear about it. They and the Democrats will keep up the lie as they are anti-Human and want us all put in boxes.

Pure blasphemy! Take away their science card and give them 50 lashes!

They did the analysis using satellite temperature measurements.

We really don't have good pre-satellite temperature measurements for the surface or near surface, and none at all for the troposphere.

It's really difficult to project future temperature trends when you don't know current or past temperatures.

tweak your value of λ, and the next thing you know it's "nuclear winter."

these poor souls only wish they had a weather machine. But Karl Rove actually has one!

Were thermometers even accurate to within a single degree a hundred years ago?

Despite claims of a “consensus” of scientists believing Al Gore’s hogwash, this article is an example of true science that seeks to replicate the conclusions drawn by others with actual observed data. The climate models used by the Church of the Global Warming do not stand up to scientific study and actual data and never have. Watch for this peer reviewed scientific study to be brushed off by the global warming zealots as being funded by big oil and other polluters or as being produced by “deniers”.

Global climate *science* tells us not to fear it so much.

The human contribution to global warming is negligible - in other words, peripheral to the phenomenon. It follows that if climate change is naturally occuring, there is nothing man can do to substantially change it. The entire theory of massive government regulation of human activity to deal with a problem it turns out we aren't principally responsible for, is a lunatic one that threatens the soundness of our economy as well as our freedoms.

A splendid motto - and Americans helped make it a reality by liberating Luxembourg two times in WWII: before and during the Ardennes Campaign (”Battle of the Bulge”). The Luxembourgers, bless them, have never forgotten this.

A lovely country of first-class people, where Americans are surely welcome.

The entire theory of massive government regulation of human activity to deal with a problem it turns out we aren't principally responsible for, is a lunatic one that threatens the soundness of our economy as well as our freedoms.

It actually can even be worse then that. We all admit that human activity can change the climate for local habitats. For example most of the US will be at or below freezing when the sun rises on Monday morning. Thankfully we can control the climate within our habitats. The question always has been, can we affect Global temperatures significantly ? The AGW Believers claim we have a significant and possibly dominate affect on the Global Climate. The AGW deniers claim that at best we only have a minor affect and possibly have almost no measurable affect on the Global Climate. Now what if the correct answer is that we have a minor affect and the dominate factor on Global Climate is the Sun. If we have a minor affect, then if we make any changes at all, these changes need to be carefully and accurately performed. For example, if we are currently heading to a very cold period, (which is what the solar scientists are predicting), then if we have any affect at all on Global Climate, we should be trying to warm the planet. The problem is that convincing a Brain Washed AGW Disciple that we need to try to warm the planet if we are to do anything, is just about impossible now. And the actions of the AGW Believers could very well be making this cold period even colder. Extreme low temperatures can be lethal.

As I’ve said before.
It’s about the money, not science.

It’s time to take AL and Co to the wood shed (federal court)

If our congress passes any CO2 Mandates, they should go to the wood shed as well.
