let us give thanks to the divine ‘author of liberty.’
Nice line.
Mr. Romney couldnt have done this any better. I am very, very, very impressed. What courage and leadership for him to do this. God bless us all (no matter what our religious beliefs are)!
Values! Yes.
It is sad but inevitable in our highly polarized political atmosphere, that anyone running for any political office in America would have to explain his religion in politics. This counrty, inasmuch as many would like to deny it, was founded on Christian principles and tolerence for all. I thought we all got past this with Kennedy and Catholics even though us “papists” were not invited to the “table of freedom” for nearly two hundred years.
Maybe I have a problem with my media player - the audio wasn’t too clear at the ustream.tv site - is there any other video available?
I’ve heard only about 30 seconds of the speech, and haven’t read it yet, but it looks a lot better than Kennedy’s awful 1960 speech.
Wow. Just Wow!!! Whether, or not, Mr. Romney’s profession of faith assuages the fears of those who fear other faiths or denominations, it is a profession of my faith. Mitt Romney has said it all as far as I’m concerned.
I’m so proud to be an American today — well, every day, but today, ESPECIALLY. Thanks for saying what needed to be said — not as far as Mr. Romney’s faith is concerned, but as far as what it means to be an American. Amen, Mitt, and all God’s children should say, “Amen.”
Great speech! How refreshing to hear something so straight-forward. I admire his courage and his convictions.
Wonderful speech. I’m still on the fence, but Romney said exactly what needed to be said, so I give him kudos for that.
Mitt demostrates the authority and leadership that we seek in a President. Most impressive.
“I have visited many of the magnificent cathedrals in Europe. They are so inspired ... so grand ... so empty. Raised up over generations, long ago, so many of the cathedrals now stand as the postcard backdrop to societies just too busy or too ‘enlightened’ to venture inside and kneel in prayer. The establishment of state religions in Europe did no favor to Europe’s churches. And though you will find many people of strong faith there, the churches themselves seem to be withering away.”
Magnificent.
It’s a good speech, no doubt about it. Will it be enough to propel him to the nomination?
Hooray Mitt Romney!
