In the latest tape of Bin Laden that I just heard in Arabic he is basically focusing solely on Afghanistan and asking the Europeans not to help the US in Afghanistan. In other words he gave up on Iraq because he knows that his terrorists are utterly defeated in Iraq, it is all over for them there. If you want to read the English subtitles translation of the latest audio speech you may click on the link below which was posted on a major terrorist forum. The English subtitles were translated by “Al Sahab” which is the main media wing of Al Qaeda. The whole speech is only 5 minutes one of the shortest speeches by Bin Laden.
God bless our brave troops and President Bush, we won the war in Iraq.

Don't get ahead of events, b. The US has definitely made tremendous gains -- we've almost won, but not quite. And there's still the question of "what next?" Victory is ultimately up to the Iraqis.
Although A-Q is dead in Iraq, Iran still has a stake in destabilizing Iraq, and there's still the possibility things could turn south again if the Iraqis suffer a political crisis, or somebody succeeds in creating new sectarian strife between Sunnis and Shiites.
Afghanistan is different from Iraq in a lot of ways, so the surge strategy we used in Iraq probably won't work right out of the box. The basic ideas of Iraq are probably sound, though, and we've got a lot of Special Forces guys from the first part of the Afghanistan war who can weigh in on the various cultural aspects of the Afghan tribes.
Victory in Afghanistan do-able, and A-Q can definitely be crushed there. But Iran is also active in Afghanistan....
I think that victory in the Middle East requires us finally to deal with Iran. Once that domino has fallen, I think things will be somewhat easier.

In the WOT Bush has taken on the battle that has been delayed by too many for too long. We have 3 choices when confronting Islam (we can't avoid the confrontation because they won't let us). We can destroy Islam. We can submit to Islam. We can reform Islam.
In order to destroy Islam we would have to commit genocide. A solution that is not acceptable to anybody.
If we submit to Islam we would have to deny our Saviour Jesus Christ which is not acceptable to any Christian.
To reform Islam we would need to establish political structures (Islam is a political system masquerading as a religion) within the middle east that they have no history of. The political structure would have to include a form of representative govt., property rights backed by an independent judiciary, freedom of speech, civil rights and a market economy. In order to do this the whole structure of a society and nation would have to be reorganized. The payoff though would be immense. If it can be done within a generation or two (30-50 yrs) a stable, peaceful prosperous country would emerge in the middle of the tyranny of the mullahs and dictators. The entire middle east could be transformed within a couple hundred years.
Pres. Bush has not articulated this well, but he had the courage to start the process and our military is the spearhead of this plan. God Bless all of them.
My best friends oldest son is a navy seal. He just got back from a 6 month deployment to Fallujah and tells me we are clearly winning.

As constituted now, Islam is still very much a part of the govt. in Irag. However, in time as the economy prospers and people experience real freedom that will change. Islam can't survive without a sword to the throat of the people, but we're talking decades to see real progress in this area.

The President and Gates have said that the Dems are causing an accounting nightmare for the Pentagon by not funding Iraq before they go on vacation. Bad things for our military personnel and our readiness are going to have to be done in order to keep Iraq going while the Dems blythely go on holiday. I didn’t say the funding will never happen. I’m only bringing up what those two leaders have said as they practically beg the Dems to fund Iraq before they leave DC.

Also, it seems that are greatest enemy is Saudi Arabia who sends more “insurgents” to Iraq than all other nations combined.
Do you agree that Saudi is the center of al qaeda as well as wahabbism?
