The amero conspiracy
The Boston Globe ^ | November 25, 2007 | Drake Bennett

SINCE HE BEGAN his presidential campaign, Republican candidate Mitt Romney has held more than 125 "Ask Mitt Anything" town hall forums, and the people who have shown up for them have done their best to make the events live up to their name. There have been questions about medical marijuana, about abolishing the income tax, about Romney's Mormonism and his potential vice president.

Of course, certain topics come up more than others. One is healthcare. Another is Iraq. A third is the North American Union.

The North American Union is a supranational organization, modeled on the European Union, that will soon fuse Canada, the United States, and Mexico into a single economic and political unit. The details are still being worked out by the countries' leaders, but the NAU's central governing body will have the power to nullify the laws of its member states. Goods and people will flow among the three countries unimpeded, aided by a network of continent-girdling superhighways. The US and Canadian dollars, along with the peso, will be phased out and replaced by a common North American currency called the amero.

Full disclosure to the trolls: I have read Corsi's book, so don't try to explain what's in it to me.

Japan will lead Asia into an economic union as well.

As Gandalf said in the Lord of the Rings:

"The board is set; the pieces are moving."

All this ink spilt trying to prove the NAU is just a figment of our imaginations.

And not a word on why illegal aliens from Mexico (and nowhere else) get treated better than U.S. citizens.

The “NAU” is a conspiracy theory of course and not reality but Im curious. Outside of a maybe a political union is there anything about the “NAU” that you would not want to be put into effect?

I would argue that more ink has been spilt proving the NAU is impending reality.

You can go to the SPP website and read details of what it's addressing. There's not much there that sounds sinister (examples: avian flu, apparel labels). Naturally, if you believe in the conspiracy, then it would make perfect sense why the SPP does not demonstrate its true intent on its website.

Nah, you just want to argue.

Yea. Shocking, isn't it?

Hey, I'm at work this morning. What is your excuse for being up this early?

I find those who deny that there is no NAU planned are just as naive as those who believe we never went to the moon....the “Capricorn One” crowd.

They are probably waiting for OJ to star in the “NAU, What NAU” movie

I’ve been getting up between 0530 and 0600 (without alarm) ever since the time change. I go to bed reasonably early, though.

&I can certainly see the value of easing trade restrictions and improving transportation among the three countries, but a common currency makes no economic sense.

The economies of the three countries are so different that we'd end up with the same situation the Europeans find themselves in -- rich countries happy, poor countries (Portugal, Italy, Greece) not so much. ;p>Canada's economy is commodity-based, America's knowledge, finance and service based, and Mexico's, well, we're not sure yet but it's certainly more commodity-centric than anything else.

I wouldn't be surprised but that there are some advocates of such a plan, but I think the current panic over it is seriously misplaced and overwrought.

It’s about rime we had another war with Mexico. It seems that they are getting too bold and our border is too open. With border kidnappings and crime running rampant, American citizens being given as gifts to drug lords, we need to just send in our army, remove the current government and declare Mexico a US territory. As for Canada, the Canadians are our friends and probably always will be. It’s probably just a matter of time before Quebec secceeds and the rest of Canada petitions for statehood.

They didn’t think this through, if they had really done their research, they would have realized that the proposed name for their unified currency, the ‘amero’ is the SAME name of one of the more notorious man-hating, America-hating, net kooks in all of Canadian online history, the one, the only ‘Barbara Amero’, even had (at one time) her own Usenet newsgroup ‘alt-netkooks-barbara.amero’ (or something like that).

Her claim to fame was her hilarious accusation that her Usenet ‘signature’ (whatever it was) had been ‘raped’ by her detractors.

Breathtaking stuff, lol
