OK, so, you don’t see a right wing extreme? If you do, how would you characterize it?
Isn’t affirmative action racial profiling?
The USAF SAC was not much differen’t in the late sixtys.
Right extreme would be literal anarchy, as in the absence in any form of government (not the snotnose punks who do acts of violence and are nothing more than tools for the Stalinists) - an extreme that simply does not work, a position that even hardcore libertarians (note lower case) would agree with. My view of it not working is based on the fallen sin nature of man (a Biblical viewpoint, and Paul descibes in Romans that the government does have a rightful place, yet is accountable to a higher Law, however that’s another topic and another realm).
Amazing how another Paul (as in the presidential candidate), gets a lot of support from MoveOn.org types and Stormfront types. Both as far as I am concern part of the left. As in state control, state meddling to the extreme once they get their way - may that never be.
Your response is thought provoking; however, you lose a bit of credibility because of your tagline.
You seem to have accepted the conventional wisdom that "liberal" in itself is destructive, when it is merely liberal, and there are degrees of liberality which a quite at home in any reasonable discourse; however, the left has crossed the line into "mental disorder," yet you seem to ascribe that to liberals.
In the same way you claim that Stalin invented the association between the right and fascism, the left has created the association between itself and "liberals," many of whom are pretty good folks, not the militant deconstructionists of our time who conservatives too often call "liberals."
Liberalism - as in today’s far leftism, which has nothing at all to do with classical liberalism. Or even the Dem party of 40 years ago. Just look at how the Far Left threw Lieberman under the bus - though I disagree with most of Lieberman’s positions, I give him credit for breaking the mindless lockstep on at least a few areas.
BTW, I have some friends who I consider “old school” Democrats, who do not like the direction that party has gone and have been voting at times Republican (however I have concerns about the Republicans and their sometimes pandering to the far left, even though I am registered as “R”). Disclosure statement - in my younger days I was a Dem, but more of a Henry Jackson Dem than the George McGovern variety.
I agree. I’m personally not a member of the so-called “religious right,” but I reject the efforts of the MSM to caricature these people as a bunch of uncultured, semi-literate boobs. Pat Robertson (whatever one may think of his theology) is a graduate of Yale Law School; James Dobson has a Ph.d. in clinical psychology from UCLA. And so it goes. By the way, I’ve heard the MSM broadcast its ignorance by referring to Dobson as a clergyman. In fact, he’s not ordained nor is he a cleric. Typical!
that was too easy. you're supposed to flame me and get all your friends (and your aka's) to flame me too!
It sure is! If you’re white you’re automically denied any better qualifications based on cummulative academic grading (regardless of how hard you worked to achieve them), objective and anonymous test scores (SAT, etc.),and any recommendations based on merit. This whole process is a blatant repudiation of every principle the American republic was founded upon. Past injustices do not excuse present injustices.
I think you make some very good points. Many ‘traditional’ Democrats are contending that the far Left (Move. On crowd, etc.) has captured the party of FDR, “Scoop” Jackson, and traditional anti-communist politicians like JFK. Unfortunately, I think the extreme Left is indeed dominating the Democratic party and has polarized all serious political debate. Sadly, the Republicans are not necessarily conservatives and don’t have any candidate who’s in the least charismatic or who is capable of inspiring the base. Whatever one thinks of FDR, conservatives need someone of his political genius who is capable of telling (and mobilizing) Americans that we have a “rendez-vous with destiny.”
“Obama isn’t the black candidate, I am. I’ve been married for over 25 years to a black man who has done his share of chasing chickenheads and knows what it’s like to be on the wrong side of the law.” Hillary Clinton
I had a Black guy named Michael Early from New York try to run me over with a bus one night at the motorpool. I didn’t even know the jerk. He said he wanted to slap my white face. I told him bring it on. Then once our base commander had to put Canada off limits to us because the Blacks got a little race riot going just over the border. These were interesting times in the service. Further I heard Okinawa was really bad.
And if you look at liberals you’ll find they’re the first ones out of the neighborhood.
They’re all for “civil rights” and “affirmative action” as long as it doesn’t affect them. And then when it comes to choosing a neighborhood or school, they come running for the protection of conservatives.
