At least the GOP has ideas. It has serious intellectual and philosophical arguments. In contrast, the Democrats all think alike. They don't dare to tell their base NO.

As Rush has often said, the Democratic candidates CAN’T disclose to the American People what their true agenda is (Nanny-state socialism, redistribution of wealth, surrender in Iraq etc.) because they know that if they do, they won’t win the election.

As to what "experience" Hillary has, well, she's certainly visited Africa enough to acquire plenty of venerable African proverbs ("It takes a village", etc.), even if no African has ever been known to use any of them.

Bang on target Mr Steyn!

If you're looking for someone to get tough with Elizabeth Edwards or RINO senators or White House travel-office flunkies, Hillary's your gal.

But tough on America's enemies? Thatcher-tough? Not a chance.

And again!

I love Steyn. But not even mentioning Fred at all in the piece leaves me puzzled.

happens to be a Mormon, which, if the media are to be believed, poses certain obstacles for elements of the Christian right.

First, never believe the ENEMEDIA!

Last, would be Mitt's religion. I cannot get past all his other flaws. He is good looking, for an old guy, and has nice hair. ;*)

Dodd and Biden, unlike Fred, aren’t top-tiers in their party.

Groan...I knew I forgot someone. I mean if he could mention Ron Paul surely he could have included Thompson and Hunter.

That’s what i was wondering. Eh, just a column. I still agree with the premise, I just wanted to see his actual thoughts on Fred and/or hunter.

Unfortunately, the old argument “united we stand, divided we fall” wins whereas a party of differences or splinters falls. Remember how galvanized we were under one idea, i.e., not let sKerry win but to win with the Pres. Bush who put forth the ideas that all of us could identify with and share—he had hero status. We need that one person but we DON’T have that person in sight. And (I hate to say this) that’s why the pubs will lose in ‘08. There’s not one candidate that has hero status.

Rudy, Romney, and even Huckabee have stolen the spotlight.

I hate to say it but Fred Thompson is sinking.

I've told people that I like the diversity of opinion and ideas, that's why I'm Republican (actually, I'm a conservative-leaning independent, but this is what I tell them to tweak their noses), they usually have conniptions.

After all, doesn't the Extreme Right Wing (tm) control the party? Doesn't everyone have to think the same thing?
Are you kidding?

Where are the pro-life Democrats?
Where are the pro-gun Democrats?
Where are the pro-war Democrats? (a new one to add)
Where are the anti-illegal Democrats?
Where are the pro-drilling Democrats?
Where are the pro-smoking Democrats?
Where are the pro-business Democrats?
Where are the sensible environmental Democrats?

Take your pick of issues, and you'll find Republicans for both sides of them. Some have one or two little quirks, some are so far off the ranch that they've earned the RINO label (while a few have it unfairly thrust upon them).

Where are the DINOs? You have Joe Lieberman on the war. You have a few pro-lifers, who are never allowed to speak anywhere.

There is no pro-war, pro national security Democrat running. No Democrat who can tell his party's moonbat base to "sit down and shut up." It would be refreshing if the Democrats had such a candidate.

So if you're a pro-gun anti-abortion tough-on-crime victory-in-Iraq small-government Republican the 2008 selection is a tough call.

Hey Mark! ever hear of Fred Thompson?

In a way, Mark has highlighted Fred through ommision.
I hate to see him lumped in with all the panderers he discusses in this article.

So if you're a pro-gun anti-abortion tough-on-crime victory-in-Iraq small-government Republican...

...vote for Alan Keyes.

And, he didn't just adopt these positions the day before yesterday...
