LOL Touche! I was at Fort Lewis and toddled down to Irwin to runaround in our FAST ATTACK VEHICLES (FAVs), while we played tag with armor in the darkness. The now defunct 9th ID was the official High Technology Light Division aka the High Tech Test Bed (which we referred to as HERE! Try THIS BS)! We were responsible for field testing all the new toys you so enjoy today: Like the HMMWV (HUMVEE). My battalion had the Dune Buggies years before they were ever handed to the SEALs or anybody else. We even had a group from the racing team of Chenowith (who supplied the first buggies) to come in and teach us how to properly "fly" them among some other kewl 007 style moves.

I remember when y’all had the dune buggies - that was just too kewl!
I have to admit, a lot of us intel types hadn’t a clue. I was in Combat Development, and worked to get the Common Sensor systems off the drawing board and into the field. It was a tough sell getting the folks back east to lighten ‘em up.
OBTW, thanks for your service!
