Justice investigates VECO-Young connection

The Justice Department is investigating whether former VECO Corp. Vice President Rick Smith used golf tournaments to funnel cash to Alaska Congressman Don Young, according to an Associated Press report.

The report claims Smith told investigators that Young personally received cash at the events.

A spokesman for Congressman Young told AP the "tournaments had nothing to do with the campaign or anything official."

This is getting big. There are even rumors that Young may be indicted. Ted Stevens is caught in this, as well.

One good thing about the scandals is that Ted Stevens spawn is already toast and has no future in political office. The rest will soon follow. I got totally fed up with Alaska politics when Murkowski appointed his totally unqualified daughter to finish his term in the seanate.

It would be quite a coup if next year the democrats are able to grab 2/3rds of Alaska’s federal representation up from nothing. I think both intend to run; not good.
