Rudy Giuliani: ‘200 reasons’ why I would be better president than any Dem

BY RICHARD SISK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

Saturday, November 17th 2007, 4:00 AM

WASHINGTON - Rudy Giuliani Friday came up with “200 reasons” why he is better than Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat - the 200 judges he would name as President.

“I’m gonna give you 200 reasons” to choose him over Sens. Clinton (D-N.Y.), Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), Giuliani told applauding strict constructionists from the Federalist Society.

“It’s the 200 federal judges the next President of the U.S. is likely to appoint,” Giuliani said.

The former mayor said that if Clinton won, she would name “judges who will be activist in the sense of trying to legislate social policy.”

The Federalist Society audience, which earlier rapturously welcomed members and Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, also gave frequent ovations to Giuliani’s standard riffs on 9/11 and against taxes and welfare.

Former Solicitor General Ted Olson, who introduced Giuliani, may have provided the gaffe of the day.

Just a week after the indictment of former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, Olson said Giuliani had shown “the wisdom and humility to surround himself with talented, dedicated and energetic people” as mayor.

If Rudy and Fred are the only one’s left standing, then the Republicans are finished and indistinguishable from the Democrats. Who is there that supports the party platform running for President... only the lower tier candidates. The party is in real trouble.

Why would Giuliani appoint conservative judges when he's not a conservative?

"The party is in real trouble"

Sir, I respectfully disagree. The GOP is emerging as a very strong party...under what will be an evolving platform more reflective of the electorate.

Efficiency, low taxes, strong defense, law and order...hallmarks of the party for over 50 years.

Social Conservatives joined the party under Reagan...but have not been reliable GOP voters...party loyalists so to speak. Like an unhappy wife they threaten to leave every couple of years...

Probably half vote dem anyway...and many who historically voted GOP voted for dems in 2006...electing at least two "pro life" dems to the Senate.

I am baffled that the GOP allows this 20% of the party...many who are here for reasons other than social issues...to run the show.

When are you and the other Rooty Rooters going to figure out that when CONSERVATIVES oppose a liberal candidate, they ARE NOT TRYING TO HELP HILLARY.

You and your FRiberal ilk are absolutely pathetic.

The only Hillary enablers on this site are the ones supporting the dem with an R behind his name. Yeah, that’s Rudy, by the way.

If Rudy had a (D) behind his name, you’d be slamming him to the ground like the rest of FR.

And if Hitlery had an "R" after her name, most of the Rooty Rooters would support her wholeheartedly. If this election cycle has shown us anything, it has shown how unprincipled the FRiberal RINOs are.

Yep. If conservatives sacrifice principles in this election, they will NEVER, I repeat, never, be able to recover what has been lost.

Perhaps you don't understand, you're supposed to be easily manipulated, just follow dutifully...

Remember when Bill Weld spoke to the Republican convention in 1992 and was booed? At least he got to speak, but now, we're seriously considering nominating his soul brother... the rising tide of 1994 is now the dried up river bed of 2008.

Giuliani is a bloviating bag of wind. He and the neo-pukes running his campaign are obsessed with religious cleansing the Repub Party and kicking so/cons to the curb. The connivers belatedly calculated Rooty REALLY needs so/cons to make a primary showing....so the nitwit changes his tune. Every word out of Rooty's mouth is focus-grouped to the nth degree. Giuliani Vexes Audiences With His Abortion Views
FR Posted 11/16/2007 by jaybeegee

..Giuliani has made the case that while he believes that abortions are wrong, he thinks the ultimate decision should be up to women, not the government. It is a position that has confused some people ....

Kelli Conlon of (the radical pro-abortion) NARAL-NY recalled that Giuliani put her on his transition team when he was elected mayor. Mayor Giuliani issued proclamations to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. (And received more NARAL campaign contributions than NARAL gave to Hillary.) But Ms. Conlon said she was troubled to hear Giuliani say he would appoint justices in the model of Justices Scalia and Thomas...(and intends to sit down with Giuliani and his colleagues out of the glare of the cameras)......

Giuliani also spoke about religion in the public sphere. “I cannot figure out where some imperative exists to ban the mention of the 10 amendments in a public square,” he said (after discussing the Bill of Rights). Then he corrected himself: “The 10 Commandments.”

She has no need to worry. Rudy equated Ginsberg with Roberts, so he would have no problem declaring any leftwing nominee the next Scalia or Thomas.

(Saying he'll apppoint federal judges who adhere to Conservative Principles), Rudy equated Ginsberg with Chief Justice Roberts.............

OMG---this mental lightweight's gone over the edge.

Watta nut case----Giuliani's irrationality borders on the psychotic.

Maybe he'll campign wearing a strait jacket to nail the mentally disturbed vote.....where he's most at home.

Dufus. LOL

Of course, Rudy has been known to ignore the bill of rights in the public square. Perhaps that is what he meant.
