I Don't Want a Fire In The Belly!!!
11/13/2007 | Me

I DON'T WANT A FIRE IN THE BELLY!!

So what if Fred Thompson isn't every where at every moment.

Who cares that being the US President hasn't been his lifelong dream?

So he isn't doing back flips or some other idiotic stunt to get attention.

Where has that gotten us before?

Well.... Bill Clinton has the fire since he was a little boy. We all know how that turned out.

Saddam, Chavez, Quadafy, and even Hitler were brimming with Belly Fire.

I want a man who will keep my country safe, who will have a responsible stewardship of the economy, and protect the Constitution and States Rights.

I want a Statesman. I want a leader. I don't want someone who has to be all things to all people.

We all know the fable of the tortoise and the hare. Well I want a tortoise. I want slow and steady.

I don't want Las Vegas in the White House. We had enough of that garbage in the 90s. Give me a man who stands by his word and can stand up to Nasty Nancy and Harry Reid and the rest of the nutjobs who think that they can run a war better than the generals.

Ok, that's enough for now. I am not a good writer and not very eloquent but I think that I have common sense.

Fred does need to have enough fire in his belly to get nominated and then elected.

I like Fred, hope he is the one, but more important to us is that we don’t sabotage who ever the Republican candidate ends up being by NOT VOTING, VOTING THIRD PARTY or VOTING DEMOCRAT.

Then don't give the nomination to Rudy or Ronnie.

"Who wants a President who has spent his life learning to manipulate others, sell dishonestly, etc?"

Well, that rules out all the lawyers.

Easy, Sunshine. I’m not being snarky, I was looking for a link to see what he actually said.

We don’t know the end result of who gets the nod.

Do your best job to get your person in the slot, but don’t be foolish after if it isn’t you pick.

Hillary gets you liberal justices (BIG BIG IMORTANT DEAL, they will all vote for abortion and liberal indoctrination)
Hillary gets you more life through the government, higher government employment and will confiscate the medical vocations into government departments.

ANY REPUBLICAN will be a lot better, especially with justices.

Be smart, don’t be self righteous and stubborn in a way that does the country the most damage. Makes no sense.

I get what you are saying, but no hissy fit will justify the damage you can cause your own future (especially regarding life and liberty) if you do not vote or vote anything in the main election that is not the Republican for President.

You have to use the 2+2=4 logic here, not the South Park Cartman logic where you pontificate your singular minded view, then leave the room.

We can not say because I am pro-life, or too conservative I can’t vote in the main election for the Republican, because if you are that stubborn you get the communist Hillary, liberal anti-life justices, and you will cause the whole country to slide much further to the left.

People here really need to look at the long term results of NOT VOTING REPUBLICAN in the election, and they had better be the last to bitch about a President Hillary and leftist justices IMO.

What is "fire in the belly" supposed to look or sound like anyway? A Dean scream? This is a curious meme.

That phrase reminds me of the plate of spicy nachos Tom Tancredo sent to John McCain's table when they ended up having lunch at the same restaurant back in June.

:-)

Not that I'm saying Thompson is close but we need to remember that even George Washington was a reluctant President and only served because he saw the country's needs.

He did vote for impeachment, just not on all counts.

As a Senator he could not vote on "impeachment".

Constitution leaves that to the House of Representatives.

"Anybody who was President of their High School class automatically cannot be a candidate for POTUS, or the US Senate"

LOL. I agree. Though there are exceptions to the obsessive planning of political careers. I was Senior Class President and in a variety of other leadership roles (out of a genuine sense of service) in high school, and a classmate even wrote a "prediction" in my yearbook that I was a future US president, ha ha, but I merely found that amusing..... I always loathed grasping, egocentric, ambitious political types and had no long-term interest in political life. Not that I did not think the issues were terribly important, just that I knew I was the opposite of a Bill Clinton (years before I ever heard of Bill Clinton) and I knew I did not want a life in politics, period.

I like your post, Rita. I’ll take ‘slow & steady’ over a ‘flash in the pan’ any time. I’m sick of Romney, Rudy, & McCain already, but I’m not sick of Fred. I’d like to hear more from Fred ... I’m anticipating with pleasure hearing more from Fred. He’s a marathon man, not a sprinter. I don’t think he would have gotten into the Presidential race if he didn’t mean it, but he’s running it on his terms. His interview with Buffalo Butt (Russert) last weekend was on his terms. So .... it’s a year until the elections .... a whole YEAR to listen to the insane drivelings of the Dems and certain Pubbies flip flopping like fish out of water, desperately trying to figure out how to get their disgruntled base back. I do like Duncan .... but we’re talking Fred here. Yup, I can deal with Fred the tortoise - he’s going just my speed right about now.

Thank you.

Read it, see the thought that went into a very hard decision for a man who takes his job and our Constitution seriously. A man who would do a serious job of running the country.

Unlike many on both sides, he did not make his judgment lightly. If he was just reckless, I could see chastising him for his split decision, but this was a very well thought out response to a breathless and crazy situation.

Very true, and important. I should have substituted removal from office for impeachment.
