IIRC - Arafats uncle was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, WWII era. He was personally acquianted with Hitler and had visited Hitler in Germany.

The Nazis raised two+ Muslim Waffen SS Divisions during the war. These were the only true “religious” SS Division the Nazis ever created (and it is safe to say that the Germany was not a Muslim nation). Himmler was fascinated by the thought of Muslims to be fearless soldiers willing to kill for their religion. One of these Muslim Waffen SS divisions (The Hanjer Division) was responsible for the murder of over 90 percent of the Yugoslavian Jewish population.

Not that Charles is too bright about these things, but who does he think would physically rise up first against the Islamists? Discount shoppers? Or people interested and holding ideological views rooted in recent history? Doh!
European state socialism has bleached out, stomped out, bought out the masses. They are are consumers. The political environment is a donut with mass mush in the center, if anything, and a circle of extremes. Charles believes it not to be so, but it is. Unless Charles wants to take off his fairy pants and mix it up with the Islamists, he's going to have to accept those that do the work. He kind of reminds me of the time myself and another went to a house to do some work, but the person was so anal retentive they wouldn't let us in. The interior was perfect museum of white carpet and glass Hummels. We were fine and in my experience near nigh nancys about cleanliness. So we left and it didn't get done. That's where Charles is.
In 1941, the Mufti inspired a pro-Nazi coup in Iraq led by General Rashid Ali. Collaborating with his masters in Berlin, he would declare a Jihad against Britain, which he called "the greatest foe of Islam." The British backed a successful counter-coup and the Mufti proceeded on to Berlin, where he was appointed by the Nazis as titular head of a Nazi pan-Arab government-in-exile.
November 28th, 1941 The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Hajj Amin Al-Husseini, meets Hitler for the first time in the Reich chancellery. The Grand Mufti, accompanied by several Nazi officials, greets Hitler with a salute. The narrator notes that because of his nationalist politics the British put a price of 25,000 pounds on his head. As the war progressed, Husseini became more involved with Germany and its anti-Jewish policies: in the spring of 1943 he recruited 20,000 Bosnian Muslims in Croatia to serve in Waffen-SS units, and that same year he established the Arab Institute for Research into the Jewish Question in Berlin. He fled to Egypt in 1946 and was never prosecuted.
The reasons for the recruitment in particular of Croatian Muslims by the SS were many-fold. For one, Himmler was fascinated by the Islamic faith, and thought Muslims to be fearless soldiers. Himmler also subscribed to the propaganda theory that Croatians (and therefore the Croatian Muslims) were not, in fact, Slavic people, but actually of Aryan (Gothic) descent, and thereby acceptable to the racially "pure" SS. The fact that this ludicrous theory would not hold up to any kind of serious scrutiny was conveniently ignored.
Finally, the Germans were hoping to rally the World's 350 million Muslims to their side, in a struggle against the British Empire. The creation of a Muslim, albeit European Muslim Division, was considered a stepping stone to this greater end.
Adolf Hitler approved of Himmler's idea on February 13th 1943. Prior to the formation of the division, however, approval also had to be granted by the Croatian government, as their citizens were to be recruited, and on Croatian territory. The Croatian Poglavnik, Ante Pavelic, and his ministers had many problems with the idea, but eventually agreed to the division's creation on March 5th 1943. The divisional strength reached the required 26,000 men by mid 1943, though not all men were volunteers (some being begged, bribed and outright kidnapped into service). Also, 2,800 of the men were Catholic Croatians and not Muslim.
Many Nazis fled to the Middle East, particularly Egypt, Syria, and Iran. Saddam Hussein was a big admirer of Hitler and Stalin.
