Many believe stem cell research will bring cures for ailments such as spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, sickle cell anemia and multiple sclerosis...if there were really scientific evidence supporting such probabilities private companies such as our own Merck would be pouring money into the research and there would be no need to go filching funding from the public - the Church might be able to turn the issue around, but during years and years of voting in the state I can recall no ballot question asking for more public funding that the voters were smart enough to reject.......

New Jersey voters support borrowing $450 million for stem cell research, I thought NJ taxes were high enough already.

``I always am concerned when there is thoughtful and careful opposition which the church brings to bear from their perspective,'' Corzine said. ``But we'll hopefully find that people want to advance science in a way that protects the lives and improves the lives of every individual.'' That is precisely what the Catholic Church is trying to do, Governor. If ESCR is such a promising technology, why aren't you investing your own money into the project?
