Why the liberals want the U.S. to lose the war in Iraq
Hernando Today. ^ | Oct 18, 2007 | COL. DONALD J. MYERS (Ret.)

Posted on 10/19/2007 10:08:06 AM PDT by george76

This past week convinced me that the left, especially the Democratic Congress, does not appreciate the fact that we are at war. When one is in a war, one attempts to amass as many allies as possible...

The adage, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" holds true.

During World War I, the Ottoman Empire, Turkey, killed over a million Armenians. Today, we call that genocide. Our Congress led by the Democrats picked this particular time to announce to the world how wrong that was and passed a resolution in a committee. Now the speaker, Ms. Pelosi, is trying to have the entire House pass this resolution. As a result, Turkey has recalled its ambassador, and is massing troops on the Iraqi border to deal with Kurdish rebels who conduct raids across the border into Turkey. Much of our supplies to support our troops in the war in Iraq pass through or over Turkey.

Why would our Democratic-led Congress pick this particular time to bring up this issue? There is only one reason -- to make it more difficult for the U.S. to win this war in Iraq.

Sen. Harry Reid has declared that the war is lost.

Rep. John Murtha has accused Marines of murder before any investigation, and investigations have proved that he was wrong.

The current resolution is merely another ploy to make it more difficult to win this war, especially since the surge is doing so well.

Since the left has done so much to make it more difficult to win this war, then they will be unable to revel in any type of victory.

Therefore, they must do whatever is necessary to ensure that victory does not occur.

>>>The GOP eventually gets shut out of power for the next decade or more while the Dems finally get something that looks like a one-party state, leaving them free to do pretty much whatever they want.>>>>

Well, then doesn’t this really distill to the stupidity of the avg American
voter? HL Mencken said that no one ever went broke underestimating the
intelligence of the American public. Its as true today as it was 110yrs ago.
Maybe moreso.

OTOH, isn’t this why gridlock was invented?

Questions the Dems supporting this should be asked:

1. What did the League of Nations do about the alleged genocide?
2. What has the U.N. done about the alleged genocide?
3. What is the International Court of Justice doing about this?
4. In how many other ways does the Democrat Party support unilateral intervention by the U.S. into international affairs?

The reason is simple, to obtain and maintain POWER.

They don’t care at all about growing American soldier deaths if it serves their career purposes.

Therefore, they must do whatever is necessary to ensure that victory does not occur.

Moreover, playing "defense" to shield Iran from a strike.

One thing the liberals can't take; any victory for the US as long as President Bush is still in charge. I believe the President will take out Iran before leaving office and that will put the pressure on ALL the Islamo-fascist terrorist organizations.

Cutting Iran's oil money, weapons and most of all, possible nukes will orphan all the terrorist organizations in the ME.

That said:

- Hamas is as good as gone

- Hezbollah will not be re-supplied saving the Lebanese Government

- Syria will fold especially after the Israeli air strike on their Norky nuke site

- No more sustenance to al Sadr militias, the drying up of IEDs and saving our troops in Iraq

- relieving the threat to the Sunni Arab Governments and Gulf States

- A shot across the bows of both Russia, China informing them that we are STILL the only superpower in the world and still can wipe out their clients.

What are the libs going to do or say? Some of the most difficult and lingering problems, for all practical purposes, will vanish or head for very fast resolution.

No wonder, the libs are fighting for their survival by trying to aggravate international problems for the US and acting like the traitors they are.

Sen. Harry Reid has declared that the war is lost.

Rep. John Murtha has accused Marines of murder before any investigation, and investigations have proved that he was wrong.

I'm a member of the College Republicans club at OSU...we had some Iraq vets come to speak to us and one of them said "I swear I've seen more Jack Murtha coverage on al-Jazeera than I have anywhere else in my life!"

The current resolution is merely another ploy to make it more difficult to win this war, especially since the surge is doing so well.

Pelosi is the bigger Turkey.

I can't find the picture, but there's a good pic of Pelosi's face Photoshopped into the wicked witch from Wizard of Oz, with "Surrender George" written in the sky above the Capitol Building.

The Left wants to see Bush humiliated of course, but it also wants to see America chastened for following him to war. And the Left wants America to doubt its ability to achieve positive moral outcomes in the world, especially through military force, and especially when working alone. In short, the Left wants America to see itself as the Left sees America, which is as a moral failure. Losing this war would help accomplish that.
