NARAL Wants Rudy
National Review Online ^ | 10-12-07 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

Posted on 10/12/2007 8:44:47 AM PDT by TitansAFC

In a phone interview with the Huffington Post, NARAL's political director Elizabeth Shipp acknowledged it "would help" the pro-choice movement if a Republican proved it was possible to win the presidency while still supporting abortion rights.

"The Republican Party used to be about the conservative principles of limited government intervention in private life," Shipp said. "It seems to me if they went back to that and stood out from the rigid mainstream, anti-choice agenda, I think yeah, it would be good for the movement."

Could Giuliani be the candidate to take the Republican Party down that road? And would NARAL support him?

"I don't know yet," said Shipp. "He has said some very concerning things since getting into this race. If you have to grade him compared to everyone else you have to give him an incomplete."

NARAL still wants Rudy911!

But I digress, Alterman, Deroy Murdock, and the other Rudophiles still believe he's the most Conservative candidate running, and that he'll be the gift that never stops giving to Social and Gun Conservatives.

So who are we to even question Rudy911's committment to the SoCon/Gun/Pro-Life movement?

Ping.

Can’t NARAL see that their “Champion of Choice” is secretly planning to overturn Roe, reduce Abortions in America, defund all of their organizations, remove all public funding of Abortion, place restrictions on their Abortion mills, and be the gift that keeps on giving to Social Conservatives?

I mean, so what if he once told them that he was “one of the most effective Abortion Rigths Activists” in America! Are they fools? Can’t they see his radical turnaround and secret plans to aid and abet their worst enemies - the Religious Right?

This is hardly a glowing endorsement of Rudy. Ideally, NARAL would prefer all candidates be pro-choice just as the NRA would prefer all candidates be pro-2nd Amendment. You can bet that NARAL will be supporting the Democratic candidate.

She could not be more correct! Yes, they are evil incarnate, but they're political acumen is far superior to our side.

A Rudy victory would be devastating to the Pro-life movement for the exact reason she has stated. The Pro-Life movement in America would then go the way of the Pro-Life movement in Europe. I can guarantee you that over half of Republican office holders who give lip-service to our side would abandon us in a second if they thought they could be successful otherwise.

Rudy is in a no man’s land, which is what happens when you have lived your life with no principles. He can’t appeal to the pro-life folks and is making the pro-abortion people nervous. Sorry, Rudy, I’m sticking with Duncan Hunter. A real man of principle.

Giuliani has a website called SoCons for Rudy.

http://soconsforrudy.angelfire.com/saidaboutrudy.html

Golly I never these IL RINOs, Judy Biggert and Jerry Weller, were social conservatives. Weller is under investigation for shady land deals in Latino America. Not good to have an endorsement from Weller. Who’s next to endorse Giuliani Craig, Foley or Ney?

Opening Remarks to the N.A.R.A.L. “Champions of Choice” Lunch

The Yale Club, Thursday, April 5th, 2001
As Delivered

Thank you very much for inviting me to say a few words of welcome. This event shows that people of different political parties and different political thinking can unite in support of choice. In doing so, we are upholding a distinguished tradition that began in our city starting with the work of Margaret Sanger and the movement for reproductive freedom that began in the early decades of the 20th century.

A vote for Rudy is like a vote for any Dim.
*********************************
I’d say it’s far worse as Rudy would rip the Reps apart and his socialist plans would be approved/passed rather than fought against..

If Elizabeth Shipp thinks Rudolph Giuliani champions limited government intervention in private lives, she has her head in the sand. Giuliani is an authoritarian who favors massive government intervention in private lives -- including in the area of abortion, because he wants all of us to pay for poor people to have them.

I think a third party would be more realistic if Rooty won the WH and the Pro-Life in Name only group showed their true colors.

Perhaps this is what Dr. Dobson is looking towards?

Part of me believes that is what Dr. Dobson is attempting but he has to know that in the interim liberals will control this country and if in majority and control too long will enact laws to ensure that status quo.
