The company she keeps
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | October 10, 2007 | Editorial

Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign gets kookier by the day. On Tuesday, she abandoned her widely ridiculed "baby bonds" in favor of a plan, funded by robbing the graves of "the rich," to give Americans earning less than $100,000 a year a 401(k), into which the government would deposit up to $1,000 annually. She apparently figured out babies don't vote.

On Monday, she declared Sandy Berger would have "no official role" in her campaign. Her statement was meant to deflect criticism of her naming Mr. Berger as her unofficial, unpaid foreign-policy adviser. But his record of foreign-policy blunders is scary. As Bill Clinton's national security adviser, Mr. Berger ignored reports of widespread espionage in the federal government by communist Chinese agents, which allowed them to make off with vital nuclear-weapons secrets. His dovish advice to Mr. Clinton helped put America on the road to 9/11. In 2003, Mr. Berger got caught stealing and destroying classified documents from the National Archives and then lying to investigators.

Lawlessness and estrangement from the truth must be prerequisites for Sen. Clinton's unofficial, unpaid advisers. While fundraising for her over the weekend, Mr. Clinton told British journalists he'd be more than just "the first laddie" if she becomes president: "(S)he would ask me, and others — including former Republican presidents — to go out and immediately try to restore (America's reputation)," which President Bush has destroyed. Now that's just silly. Mr. Clinton is a national embarrassment, and come 2009, America will have two former Republican presidents — both named Bush.

“Hillary is throwing poop at the wall and trying to see what turd sticks....”

Exactly. It’s not leading, but it does work. This is how Bubba ran things.

unpaid

You get what you pay for.

Unofficial

You can’t blame Hillary for what Berger does, it weren’t official. Only a lawyer would hire someone “unofficially”.

Don’t you love when the left says “the gov’t will deposit” etc? Like it’s some rich uncle with deep pockets?

By the way, this $1,000 annual gov’t retirement deposit honestly smells like a reverse pyramid scheme when you see who benefits.

"Sandy Berger has no official role in my campaign"

I'm just paying him off for some work I had him do at the archives.

Women’s lib has come a long way when a large part of the country wants a criminal for President just because she’s a well advertised woman.

The question before the house is, would a Hillary White House have an Administration with a better: And will all the department heads be confirmed, or will some of them be unconfirmed "assistants" who are acting as chiefs "temporarily" until the end of the administration?

As the old cliche's says, "You are judged by the company you keep".

Ref. Hillary, enough said.

To be honest, I don't really get it. How do you rob a grave of 'the rich'?
