"Show me your hands" means what it it means...
Really. How many of us regularly get into contests of wills with officers of the peace? I know I don't. The few times I've been pulled over I accept that the situation is now under the officer's control, and it was, and things went smoothly, and I ended up going on my way, with peace and civility had by all.

I guess I should have argued every step of the way and made a huge fantastic ass of myself, like taser boy and quran guy. Looking back, though, I have no regrets.

Best for all. Objections can be expressed afterwards. Being civil has the added effect of bringing credibility to your complaint as to the event, if you choose to make a complaint.
