Did you watch the video- They seemed to dispel the nut-jobs by doing a good job of showing what the plane really is. They only show that the plane went unnoticed in reports.
Because it’s secret. I think 9-11 conspiracy types would rather not know. It makes for better fairy tales..

Even if it was an E-4B, which is almost impossible to deny it wasn’t based on the communications pod, why is anyone surprised it was airborne on 9/11?

The US government was executing the continuation of government plans from the nuclear war senarios. That included getting the President to a secure command bunker — the former SAC headquarters outside Omaha. Moving the VP to a secure location and getting the other key elements of Presidential succession in the air. Since the POTUS and VP were in bunkers, the next in line had to be airborne in case the bunkers were destroyed.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense understood what was happening.
At least THEIR party appeals to the base, unlike another certain political party we all know.

My old man was the Senior Project Officer for the purchase of the first two E-4s - one became Air Force One, the other NEACAP. Upon receipt of the aircraft, he became the Director of Operations. End shameless plug.
Somebody, be it the VP, SecState, SecDef, etc. was driven to Andrews and put on that plane. Wouldn’t you want to take a look before starting endless briefings and whatnot?
They did that the day they did their first cable broadcast. They just hid it better in those early days.
