"I don't support abortion, but I don't want to pass any federal law to regulate it," he added.

My, what a champion of the unborn. He's personally opposed, but . . .

Actually, his position is the correct one under the Constitution. The Fedgov has no authority under the Constitution to regulate abortion, either for or against---it's a state function.

Don't get me wrong--I'm as opposed to abortion as anybody, but I also believe that our Constitution should be followed---AS WRITTEN (or amended---and NOT by Supreme Court).p Now, if you can persuade enough members of Congress and sufficient state legislatures to pass an actual Constitutional amendment prohibiting abortion--then I'd be all in favor.

Paul is in favor of state laws against abortion but is opposed to unconstitutional federal laws against murder, abortion, and thousands of other crimes. Just as any good conservative would be.

But then you knew that.

Perhaps you should re-read the quote again. He said no federal law. That means it goes back to the states. It's a federalist position, the same position as Fred Thompson's.

I am an admitted computer illiterate. Someone more competent at this computer stuff than I should be induced to take this statement by the paleofraudster Dr. Demento that he opposes federal action against abortion (even to regulate it!!!) and plug it into every Paulistinian spamthread to remind the fraudster’s supporters of how two-faced he truly is and to make them stop lying to others as though Demento was meaningfully pro-life.
