It is a sad commentary on our public education system that has not only failed to teach the basics, but has produced "citizens" who cannot think logically and are vulnerable to persuasion by demagogues--with and without keyboards.

One could substitute the word "reality" (or "truth") for "information" in your quote, and it's meaning wouldn't change substantively.
