Heckuva job, Code Pink (with video)
The Politico ^ | September 10, 2007 | Jonathan Martin

Is Code Pink to the left what the Westboro Baptist Church is to the right?

While the anti-war group and the anti-gay church denomination could not have more different politics, the bizarre tactics that both use seem so self-defeating as to give credence to conspiracy theories that they're not what they seem.

The Topeka-based church, of course, is best known for attending the funerals of U.S. soliders with signs asserting that God is incurring His wrath upon America because of the country's tolerance for homosexuality. "God hates Fags" is a perennial favorite among Westboro's subtle sign-wavers.

But just as the church would seem to be an outlandish and extreme cariacture of how some on the far left view the the far right, the Code Pink protestors almost seem to be a parody of a liberal protest group.

To show up and unfurl signs that read "Generals Lie Soldiers Die" outside the House offices where Gen. David Petraeus is testifying today and have a guy prancing around Independence Ave in a W-as-devil mask holding a sign that reads "I've got Petraeus by the soul?"

Karl Rove, Lee Atwater and Donald Segretti couldn't put their heads together and come up with such a dream scenario.

Oh, and that doesn't even include their standing up and repeatedly screaming during Petraeus's testimony.

More than a few Democrats probably said to themselves what House Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton whispered to Ranking Member Duncan Hunter before a hot mic as yet another of the protestors was dragged out. "That really pisses me off, Duncan," Skelton complained. "Those assh*les."

I’m an Australian, I saw that performance by Code Pink on our TV news. I cannot understand why they were let in the door!

I’s like to know how they come to the conclusion that “Westboro Baptist Church “ - which is really just a single family of unethical lawyers with a cozy tax shelter or some such scam, is even a church, much less how they come to consider it to be on the right.

I’m with you. How the heck did they get in there, especially dressed as they were? How dumb do you have to be to let them in and think they will behave? I couldn’t have been admitted, but, somehow, they could. What were they thinking?

The Democrats agree with those people, they also run Congress. So they let them in.

I watched the video. I’m surprised the democrats wanted to have the General’s microphone fixed as their minds are made up and it really doesn’t matter what he says. What’s with all the BS opening statements by the politicians. A hearing is supposed to finding out about facts in order to make an informed decision. These people drive me nuts!

I don’t know how they came to be right, other than the lewftists said they were but they are as much as church as the ‘revrunds’ Jack$on and $harpton are churches.

After the ridiculous showing at this hearing by the Democrat supporting moonbats, the author of this piece was merely looking to find some moonbats to pin on the right.

Westboro Baptist Church is no conservative group. We despise them.

He should be challenged as to his assertion they are on the right.

Is Code Pink to the left what the Westboro Baptist Church is to the right?

No. The beliefs of Code Pink are wholeheartedly embarced by the majority of the left and democrats, whereas the Westboro Baptist "Church" is considered a vile abomination by conservatives and the right.

At least we saw true bipartisan ship when Chairman Skelton told a couple of people it was OK Duncan knows what to do.

You should have seen the Westboro idiots here on July 28. They showed up for a soldier’s funeral and a school bus was parked between them and the funeral. AND, the Patriot Guards backed about a dozen motorcycles up to them and left them running. After a few minutes of the exhaust fumes, they packed up and left!

Westboro Baptist Church is to the right?

Fred Phelps is a democrat. Not associated with the right at all.

“How the heck did they get in there, especially dressed as they were?”

One thing I can say for sure - You will NEVER see a report in the MSM investigating that question.

My anger about the filthy Leftists in the media continues to grow, and I intend to continue to work against them in every way possible.

Only a president has the power to shift the national debate away from their script, and unfortunately our current tounge-tied inept commander-in-chief is utterly useless in that department.
