Los Angeles Remembers September 11th

Posted on 09/10/2007 3:38:31 PM PDT by oneamericanvoice

Tomorrow, September 11th, is the sixth anniversary of one of the most horrific events the world has ever seen, and certainly for our country's history. It should be a time that we, as Americans, join in rememberance of those we lost, and to show our resolve. Please join us on this solemn evening.

Studio City, CA SE corner of Ventura Blvd at Laurel Canyon Blvd in front of the First Republic Bank 6pm to 7:30 or later

We have candles, and flags, but please feel free to bring your favorite item.

Items we can't even name because of the freedom the ACLU has brought us.

My suggestion is to bring along a flask of white wine and pork rinds.

Kinda like garlic to vampires.

Funny, and probably true. But the sad report is that ONLY ONE patriot showed up and that was as we were packing. There were people who walked or drove by and acknowledged what was going on, but there were far more that did nothing. Oh, there were a couple of anti-Bush morons that couldn’t get that this isn’t about the President. But this is Los Angeles, so nothing’s new. I don’t know where all the FReepers are, but if there are any in LA, then they are wimps. I was so sad and angry by the end night that I was nearly in tears. But we vowed that we WILL be out there next year and the years to come, because we lost so many on that day. Wish you could have been there.

Our display was a beautiful tribute to those that lost their lives six years ago, and to those who suffered the inhumanity of terrorism throughout the years. We had a poster that chronicled the various attacks with the word "Remember" added below, a table on which there were two crossed flags and in the middle of the flags were copies of the Popular Mechanics' article debunking the conspiracy theories. The articles were weighted down by a wax angel. We started a little late at around 6:30 and went til 9pm. There were alot of people who honked as they drove by, and those that stopped momentarily as they walked by. But where were those that would take a moment from their busy schedules to light a candle and hold a flag in memory of that horrendous day? NOT ONE FReeper responded! I am disgusted, sadned, and angry at their absence, as I am at those that didn't bother. Far too many passed by without acknowlegement, or with a "Oh, yeah. 9-11.". How can people be so callous over one of the most horrific events in human history, and especially in American history? Can you imagine this happening six years after Pearl Harbor? Well, I'm fed up with Armchair Patriots and FReepers who are nothing but that. I vow to be out there next year and in the years to come on September 11th, because I will never forget! Just as I have vowed never to let our troops be disrespected as they were during Vietnam, and for the Left to do their dirty work without counter! So we'll be on the SE corner of Ventura Blvd and Laurel Canyon Blvd every Friday at 6 as we've done for years, regardless if people come out or not!

I am touched by your post.

We live up the coast from you in Ventura. I canceled all of our plans/events last night and we went to a 9-11 Memorial Service at our church. The church was sparse with people but, the message was clear, “We will not forget,” not ever ever ever!

Told my daughters before the service “When church is over let’s drive by the corner of Victoria/Telephone (main intersection in town, we have FReeped this corner before in support of our troops)and honk at the supporters...k, girls?” They agreed.

It was somber leaving the service, distracted I headed away forgetting to drive by our supporters. Reminded by my family I turned the car and made my way towards the special intersection, it was dusk.

Said to the girls, “Wave the flags” (handed out at the service), they knew I’d honk the horn.

I as we approached something didn’t seem right with this group, nobody was honking for them. We rolled down the windows and slowed to a crawl...like slow motion a supporter hands my eldest daughter a flyer through the window. I try to read the posters and the flyer at the same time ...BAM all the piece connect at once! They are NOT supporters! Their poster/signs blame Bush and the flyer in my hand said the 9-11 attack was created by our government and President.

It was like I had the plaque in my hand so I tossed it out the window, right in front of their feet. In the background I could a someone saying...she threw it out the window.....It was the rudest thing I have ever done. Parenting at it's best? Probably not but, my children only know to support our troops. Not this.

OAV, that was our corner. I don’t know where our people were. If you’d like to join me there next year on September 11th, I’d be proud to stand with you and wave the flag!

Thank you for your kind words regarding my post, and for remembering the day.

It wasn’t rude nor bad parenting that you threw the lies back in the face of the conspiracy theorists/anti-Americans. Let trash pick up trash. We made copies of the Popular Mechanic article to give out to anyone interested in the truth. I’d be happy to send you one if you’d like.

I am saddened by the inactivity of the folks in Ventura. Wonder where they were? We anticipated that the moonbats would be there to engage in their usual activities, but they didn’t show. This was not lost on the passer-bys. However, I am glad that you and your girls are the wonderful patriots that you are! Question the patriots that should have been there. I’d like to know.

We must continue to stand strong at every opportunity. No Armchair Patriotism! Thank you for your offer of joining you next year on 9-11. If you have other rallies that are within my schedule I would gladly drive up to join you, and perhaps I can persuade Mac (my faithful patriotic rally companion)to join us. Mac and I made a vow that regardless of the lack of participation on 9-11 we would be there so that the people in this area NEVER FORGET!!! You are, of course, welcome to join us, but I would encourage you to take that corner back next year with you and your girls! If you should wish to contact me, please do.

God bless you & your girls!

PS There is a Support the Troops Rally in Woodland Hills on Sunday afternoon. Currently at 6pm at the SE corner of Victory Blvd at Topanga Canyon Blvd. The time changes with the availability of light. Mac and I do our rally in Studio City on Friday night starting at 6pm on the SE corner of Ventura Blvd at Laurel Canyon Blvd.

Thank you for this. It is so sad that standing up for our country is controversial now. It is sickening.

There are often protesters/supporters gathered on a corner by my office (sometimes our side, sometimes t’other), so I came prepared: wore black with a flag pin and cross necklace, brought NEVER FORGET/NEVER AGAIN posters and a flag to wave. But when I got to that corner, nobody was there. Unlike you, I did not have the courage to do it by myself. SO I REALLY ADMIRE WHAT YOU DID!

If I lived 400 miles south I would have joined you, but I just do not feel comfortable doing it alone in the liberal Bay Area.

Nobody all day here at work said a word about the significance of the day. They ARE forgetting. “Oh yeah, 9-11.”

Thank you. For remembering, and for doing something about making others remember.

It only takes one FReeper to upset hundreds of lefties, so good on you, oneamericanvoice.

Just a thought — maybe you should change your nick to amillionamericanvoices and see what happens! :-)
