fyi, even with these 60YO eyes/reflexes, i can hit 6 of 6 shots in the K5 area from a kneeling supported position at 50M, with my S&W Model 65, 4". when you KNOW that you have a total of 6 rounds before stopping to reload, you HAVE to learn to HIT what you are aiming at!!!!
fwiw, "the average lawman" today, with a "wunder nine" and 15+ shots cannot hit more than 2 rounds into the K5 at that range!!!! (how well i know THAT, as i used to be a "supervising range officer" at the NTxRPA!!! i've "lost count" of how many times i had to make a written report to HQ about an OFFICER shooting OVER the 10' berm!!!)
btw, when i was a SDUSM (court security division) a decade ago, we "SDs" consistently OUT-shot the DUSMs, with our OLD/tired, USMS-issued, 4" Model 10s!!!!
the "regular deputies" were armed with those "wunnerful, wunnerful, quazillion-shot, automatics" & my old buddy Dave ______________ (at age 64, he was the "bodyguard" of the Senior District Judge) OUTSHOT/humiliated them all with his (privately-owned) 5.5" barreled Model 25 S&W. of 200 shots, for record, he missed NONE (the last time he qualified)!!!
finally, i believe that ALL LE agencies should go back to 38spl/357mag REVOLVERS for virtually ALL officers, as this would save:
1. time (fyi, i can teach a NON-shooter to shoot, with a "4-inch Smith" in 8 or LESS hours, so that he/she can QUALIFY on a standard LE course!),
2.money for range training &
3. save lives/property/lawsuits, as well.
just my opinion.
