The Birth of al Qaedastan
|
|
|

In the year 2016, the world may find itself gloomily marking September 6 as the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Waziristan. The Emirate received de facto recognition when the Taliban used the name on the ceasefire agreement they signed with Pakistan on that day in 2006. If things go terribly wrong in the coming decade, they could come to rule a mountainous fragment of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The Emirate would be a nightmare state: Osama bin Laden as sultan, Ayman al Zawahiri as vizier, and Mullah Omar the spiritual leader. An economy built on smuggling and heroin. Primary export: terrorism. Welcome to Al Qaedastan.
Analysts say the rise of a terrorist state straddling the rugged area between Pakistan and Afghanistan is now viable. The reason is a number of troubling trends. One, the revival of a Taliban firmly in the control of Al Qaeda. Two, the seeming inability of either Kabul or Islamabad to defeat the new threat militarily. Three, and the most striking, the Talibans systematic supplanting of the traditional tribal leadership in the area. Full story...

I’m sure it’s hard enough for the families every year on 9/11, without having to see the face of the person responsible.

Al Qaeda Says New Usama Bin Laden Video to Be Released
Al Qaeda's media arm announced Monday that it will release a new video of Usama bin Laden presenting the last testament of one of the Sept. 11 homicide hijackers, marking the sixth anniversary of the attacks.
The announcement came only days after bin Laden appeared in his first video in three years, giving an address to the American people, lecturing them to abandon capitalism and democracy and convert to Islam.
The announcement came in a banner advertisement posted on an Islamic militant Web site where Al Qaeda often releases messages and was signed by Al-Sahab, the media arm of bin Laden's Al Qaeda terror network.
"Coming soon, God willing, the testament of the attacks on New York and Washington, Abu Musab Waleed al-Shehri, presented by Sheik Usama bin Laden, God preserve him," the banner read. It showed an image of bin Laden wearing the same black beard and clothes as in the most recent video.
Al Qaeda has marked past anniversaries of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks by putting out videos of the last will and testaments of some of the hijackers, usually accompanied by comments by top leaders and documentary-style footage.
Last year, for example, al-Sahab released a 55-minute video with the last testimonies of hijackers Wail al-Shehri and Hamza al-Ghamdi. The video included old but previously unreleased footage showing bin Laden strolling through an Afghan training camp where the attacks were apparently planned and chatting with top Al Qaeda lieutenants. The tape was accompanied by another with an address by bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Waleed al-Shehri was one of the hijackers on American Airlines flight 11 that hit the World Trade Center.

Al Set to Release New Video
Al Qaeda plans to release a new video depicting the last testament of one of the Sept. 11 hijackers, on the sixth anniversary of the attacks.
The group’s media arm made the announcement just days after founder and leader Osama bin Laden appeared in a video of his own, the first in three years.
The announcement was left on an Islamic militant Web site where such announcements have often been made.

Second Bin Laden Tape ExpectedThe Blotter
A second tape from Osama bin Laden was recorded in the same location as the video released last week.
People in the intelligence community who have seen the tape feel it is directly related to the 9/11 anniversary since the al Qaeda leader introduces the prerecorded martyrdom video of one of the 9/11 hijackers, Waleed al Shehri.
Waleed al Shehri was one of the hijackers on American Airlines flight 11 that crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
More to come...

I may be an alarmist but I would top off my tank. If the oil facilities in Mexico is anything to go by then I would think that the pipe lines around the US may be hit.
