I got a tattoo on a dare 10 years ago. I had always really wanted to get one, anyway. It’s a blue, yellow and white butterfly which I designed myself, and it’s on my lower left abdomen.

My thoughts are that if somebody is thinking about getting a tattoo, be sure you want it, because they’re hard to get removed.

I agree. I got a tattoo after I was well into my 40s. It took a 4 times at the tattoo shop before it was finished. I always thought it was odd to see the kids in there searching for a suitable piece of art on the wall for their tattoo. I figure if you don't pretty much know what you want when you walk in, you don't need it.
Also, much to my shagrin, my son has jumped on the tattoo wagon. He is only 20, but he has several (not visible most of the time). I wish he'd have waited till he were older to start. Every time he comes home on leave, he has a new one or gets a new one.
