My first tattoo was the words Sat Cong on my arm. When I was assigned to Okinawa and worked tug boats I had a ship and ships wheel added, along with a flower on my left hand - flower = posy = equal port. In my 20 years I could never keep port and starboard straight. Before returning to CONUS I added a Chinese Dragon to commemorate my time in the Orient. About a year after my return I covered the Sat Cong with a large eagle. I bought a Harley Davidson and of course added a couple Harley logos. A girlfriend owned a pet snake and the tattoo of a snake was added. In Hawaii I added a peacock for the beauty of the islands. When I neared retirement the Army Eagle was added, and a friend did flames as a wedding gift. After retiring my father died and I added an In Memoriam.

Guess you never noticed that “port” and “left” are four letter words?
