Ronald Reagan signed the illegal immigrant get out of jail free bill in his second term.
But he made it clear it was a one-time event and legislation was put in place to stop further illegals. The problem we have now is largely that those laws weren't enforced. And that was only 3 million. Not 15-25 million like they tried to slip in this time. Beyond that, Reagan didn't pretend it was anything other than a one-time amnesty, a lot more honest than Teddy Kennedy and his RINO minions were about these recent shamnesty attempts.
Ronnie dealt in good faith with the issue. It's his successors in Congress and the White House that undermined his intentions.
