Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson was in Nashville on Wednesday night and spoke exclusively to Channel 4 News.
Thompson spent the night at a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser drumming up support with the help of some of country's biggest stars.
Even though nothing is official, Thompson is continuing to look and act like a presidential candidate. He gives further hints about his future to Channel 4 reporter Marc Stewart.
"It's wonderful to be back home. I've got part of my family here, the ones that are in town," said Thompson.
Thompson is certainly playing the role of a presidential candidate after making the rounds in Iowa.
Some of Nashville's biggest entertainers, John Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy all made an appearance at Wednesdays fundraiser.
"(Im) so happy so many people came here to give me a good homecoming," said Thompson.
As far as a full-scale commitment to a White House bid, hes still not making anything official just yet.
"We'll be having a statement on that in the not-too-distant future, so keep your powder dry," Thompson said.
Thompson and his supporters in Nashville were expected to raise several hundred thousand dollars at Wednesdays gathering.
Just two weeks ago, another Thompson fundraiser in Nashville, which was hosted by former Sen. Howard Baker, brought in $250,000.
:) Hey 2nd! This must be called ‘keep your powder dry’ pre-campaign campaigning.
Ping!
