Santa Ana, Calif. (AP) -- N. Christian Anderson III, publisher of The Orange County Register, will leave the company Sept. 15 after joining the paper as its editor 27 years ago and leading it to two Pulitzers, the newspaper said Wednesday.

Anderson will be replaced by Terry Horne, publisher of the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Ariz., which also is owned by the Register's parent company, Freedom Communications Inc., the newspaper said on its Web site.

Anderson's departure was announced two weeks after the Register said it was laying off staff and trimming other services amid steep declines in profit and sales.

N.Christian Anderson III got two Pulitzers while his paper went tanking.
Pulitzers obviously have turned out to be failed resurrection devices of liberal publishers.
Subsequently natural market forces take over and shed this ultra liberal image in the hope ad revenues and subscribers return.
A hard road to crawl up from after stubbornly continuing skidding downhill.

At one time the Register was a fairly center / center right publication. I preferred it over the other LA area options, unfortunately it isn’t delivered in the Inland Empire anymore. No idea how sharp of a left turn they have taken.
