The Detroit chapter of the ACLU has scrambled to find a way to recuse itself from the matter, claiming that the footbaths qualify as secular since they could be used by non-Muslims...

It reminds me of when the students at our high school took care of the entire facility. For a time, I was one of the janitors (we called it "Paid Work Crew," for $1.65 an hour). Well, it wasn't me, but you see, the school still used that yellow soap...

this is like the ACLU saying Nativity scenes are religious at Christmas but Menorah displays are just history of the time period.

You’ve REALLY got to wonder whether there are Swiss bank accounts accessed by these ACLU lawyers which are regularly topped up by either the Iranians or the Saudis. They must be on the Muzzie payroll, it defies any other explanation. For instance, I’ve never seen a bouncer guarding a church door requesting Catholic membership cards. Aren’t these secular institutions also using ACLU “logic”?

You might find the perspective of an American overseas living in a Muslim majority country interesting.

These "foot basins" exist here as well, but they are in a mosque where they rightfully belong.
