On "Global Warming"

The Great Ice Age (USGS publication)

The fact is that the Earth has undergone extreme climactic changes long before humans walked the earth, ranging from the Snowball Earth, where the entire world was covered from pole to pole down to the equator with ice, to much warmer periods accompanied by an explosion of life.

Regarding CO2 levels, life, and earth's temperature: "The hot and humid climate of the Middle Carboniferous Period was accompanied by an explosion of terrestrial plant life" ... "Earth's climate and atmosphere have varied greatly over geologic time. Our planet has mostly been much hotter and more humid than we know it to be today, and with far more carbon dioxide (the greenhouse gas) in the atmosphere than exists today. The notable exception is 300,000,000 years ago during the late Carboniferous Period, which resembles our own climate and atmosphere like no other." ... "There has historically been much more CO2 in our atmosphere than exists today. For example, during the Jurassic Period (200 mya), average CO2 concentrations were about 1800 ppm or about 4.8 times higher than today. The highest concentrations of CO2 during all of the Paleozoic Era occurred during the Cambrian Period, nearly 7000 ppm -- about 19 times higher than today." ... The Carboniferous Period and the Ordovician Period were the only geological periods during the Paleozoic Era when global temperatures were as low as they are today. To the consternation of global warming proponents, the Late Ordovician Period was also an Ice Age while at the same time CO2 concentrations then were nearly 12 times higher than today-- 4400 ppm. According to greenhouse theory, Earth should have been exceedingly hot. Instead, global temperatures were no warmer than today. Clearly, other factors besides atmospheric carbon influence earth temperatures and global warming.

No doubt the ecofacists are trying to bury it where it can never see the light of day again. Kind of like the idiots who hide Ann Coulter's books in book stores.

Global Warming, like other psychological theories, is a passing fad.

Doesn’t matter, it is well known that God is a conservative — so the warming that took place before man arrived is his fault. Same thing.

Somewhere I missed this gov't publication.

That's because the information on CO2 is not in the government publication, but a blogger's comment on another blogger's comment on a government publication.

The USGS article is about the effects of the Ice Age, not the cause. Maybe you could find the part on CO2. I couldn't.

Excellent catch if accurate. And if so, no way I would have posted it. Thanks.

I am rechecking it now.

Heresy! It goes against the dogma of St. Algore and therefore must be false. Call out the Global Warming Inquisition.

That may have come across more terse than I intended. I don’t doubt the facts or the analysis. I just couldn’t find it in the original government publication.

After leaving the Marine Corps in the early 70’s I went to collage and majored in Geology. It was accepted that the Earth went through various warming and cooling periods. The evidence is in the fossil and rock layers of the Earth. The evidence is there but the exact reason for the fluctuations was then and is today debatable.

The important thing to remember is that Humans were not the cause! Unles you are an "Alley Ooper" and believe the Earth is only 6000 years old!

In a few years the left will outlaw heliocentric universe teaching and then say the tax code is the reason we have seasons on the planet.

Imagine is normal seasonal change is a “climate crisis”

Average temperature of the Planet over the past 540 million years.

Historic CO2 concentrations over the same 540 million years. The Yellow/Orange line from GeoCarb III seems to be the most accepted.

Although I don’t believe the time line, that graph shows what a bunch of nonsense the global warming scam is.
