Warner Todd Huston wrote a well supported and damning case to prosecute and convict the AP.
Guilty as charged!

The mass media’s campaign to make Abdullah al-Muhajir look like an angel is disgusting. My only regret is that we bothered with a trial in the first place. This traitor should have been tortured and killed.

Only mystery this case has ever posed for me is why, in this one instance, all the newscasters seem to insist on pronouncing the name "Padilla" as if it rhymes with "Manila" instead of what it really rhymes with which is "tortilla".
Especially given that, in any other instance, newscasters are hyper-eager to pronounce Spanish words (and foreign words in general) in as Spanish a way as possible; "Se-VEE-ya" instead of Seville, etc.

The news article I read had the reporter SURE that Padilla would win on appeal.
IOW, I noticed the same skewed reporting on Padilla’s conviction.

hypothetical question: if padilla was found innocent, would there have been louder clapping and yahooing in america’s newsrooms than when karl rove annouced he’s leaving?
To: Dr. Frank fan
"Padilla" as if it rhymes with "Manila"It could be that the scumbag actually pronounces it that way...

I think he looks like John Doe #2.
Just my opinion of course.
To: Dr. Frank fan
If I recall, Padilla said his last name was pronounced like Manila, not tortilla.
