Kinda surprised to see it in Maryland! Of course AA County is still rather conservative.
Do you know where we can get a copy of a model ordinance, so we can have our local councilmen introduce this proposal?
There is hope, more and more leaders standing up and demanding a fair playing field for all contractors. Great news!!
All right, John Leopold! Apparently, not EVERY vote I made last November was wasted!
I love these reports!
If the Feds won’t do it then WE WILL one city/county at a time.
Send that councilman to congress!
My tag line.
I still am trying to understand how those Hazelton PA laws were ruled “unconstitutional” by a Federal judge. The ruling made absolutely no sense.
Maryland’s quack Gov, “O’Mallard” himself is sure to step in.
House Passes Drake Amendment to Eradicate Sanctuary Cities
...Under section 642(a) of IIRIRA, a Federal, State, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict, any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.
Guess Arundel finally read it.
As one of Mr. Leopold’s proud constituents, I just sent him a congratulatory, atta boy-type e-mail.
His public e-mail address, in case any other Anne Arundel County residents are interested, is exleop00@aacounty.org.
Anne Arundel is not conservative at all. Maybe more so than Montgomery County, but it wouldn’t fit in down south
I have been living away from AA county for several years now.
Are you serious? LEOPOLD is the county executive? I remember when he wore a white jacket with the word LEOPOLD in bright red letters all over. He stood on Rt. 100 and waved at the passing cars!
He’d been running for office almost forever.
I could tell some stories about Leopold and some lovely lasses that he likes to hang around with.
This county executive is a Republican, but the motives on this issue are often mixed. It will be interesting to see how Dems in the county respond.
One of the most interesting facets of illegal labor is how union labor reacts. On a national basis unions appear to support illegal immigration because they see illegal immigrants as the future of organized labor. At the same time they are completely selling out rank and file union members on the principal issue unions are supposed to be fighting for, wages.
It will be interesting to see how long rank and file members will put up with being sold out. The unions will tell their members that immigration reform will fix this problem, but one only has to look at H1B visas to see that even legal imported labor can negatively affect wages.
From a political standpoint it is an opportune time to snag back some of the Reagan democrats.

I lived there behind the college, as it was still conservative. Kudo’s to AA County.
