Norwegian police and journos misled on Tamil Tiger violence in Oslo

Oslo, 16 August, (Asiantribune.com): With 33 witnesses and three injured victims in hospital, the Norwegian Police is nowhere near to any arrest of the Tamil criminals who went on a violent rampage in Oslo last Sunday. In broad daylight Tamils ran amok hacking their rivals with a samurai sword, shooting another and running a car over third Tamil.

The police are now complaining about a lack of information from the Tamil public. The head of the police investigation team, Finn Abrahamsen has had meetings with the Norwegian LTTE leader Yogarajah Balasingham on Tuesday. Balasingham has promised to co-operate with the police. The information provided by Balasingham so far has been to control the damage caused by the Tamils to their status in Norway. The LTTE media strategy has been to confuse the public with conflicting theories. The ill-informed Norwegian journalists and police are following the leads fed by Balasingham without conducting independent investigations that could lead to the arrest of criminals.

So far the LTTE has put out four reasons for the shooting. First was the usual LTTE version, that this was a family related matter due to a “dispute over a girl”. Second was that this was an act of foreign Tamil criminals from Germany and France. Third said that this was a dispute related to narcotics. The forth reason, which is more acceptable for the Labor Party linked to the LTTE, is that the youth are motivated by the “culturally insensitive Tamil media”, meaning Indian films.

Balasingham is now touting the idea of censoring Indian moves that give Tamil youth bad ideas to become criminals.

Tamilnet writes: “As a matter of culture and identity, the Tamil youth of the diaspora largely prefer to view film and television in Tamil. It is also encouraged by the parents. What is available to them are the commercial Tamil films that come from India. These films are also screened in the TV-channels.”

Uncensored viewing of culturally insensitive Tamil media is said to have an influence on the diaspora youth.

“Responsible community control and strengthening institutions and media of sensible culture and ideology are needed to counter the social de-generation of the diaspora Tamil youth,” a Norwegian Tamil social worker, S. Kumarasamy, told TamilNet.

Balasingham has also blamed the police. He said the police should have acted earlier. By attacking the Police he has put them on the defensive and made them more receptive to throw them off the scent that could lead to arrests, according the Norwegians Against Terrorists (NAT).

In several news interviews Balasingham was saying the foreign Tamil criminals were distributing free narcotics to get a grip on the Norwegian market. Jan Bøhler, a local Labor Party leader, is not happy with Balasinghams narcotics theory and said he is not so sure narcotics are the motive for the shooting.

It is bad news for the Labor Party to have Balasingham running around telling about the narcotics distribution because it scares away the voters. The Oslo Labor Party leader Jan Bøhler immediately responded after the incident and had an emergency meeting with Balasingham Sunday evening. Then they teamed up to address an improvised press conference in an attempt to defuse the situation. There are a lot of votes at stake for the Labor Party and there is less than a month to the election.

In three days Balasingham and his various versions of the story has appeared in 97 Norwegian news articles related to the shooting. Balasingham and the Norwegian LTTE are working around the clock in a damage control campaign.

There have been only a few news stories where the media has interviewed Tamils to confirm this the “grotesque” violence on Sunday was related to internal fighting in the LTTE.

There are ears that the Norwegian Police will not be able to crack this case because their main source of information is the LTTE. LTTE has provided a few names to keep the police happy and working on the lines they direct.

Whether the Labor Party will use their political influence to direct the police“on the right path” is yet to be seen. In the Tamil community there are strong rumours saying that the charges will be dropped for those involved.

One of the Tamil victims who was shot in the head is kept artificially alive Ullevål hospital. An official statement from the police state that the victim is still alive, but in critical condition. The police have a police guard at the Ullevål hospital. The police say the police protection is needed in order to protect their injured witnesses.

This violent incident has established the close links between the Labour Party and the LTTE. Because it is linked to Tamil Tiger outfit it has closed ranks to cover up any electoral backlash.

It remains to be seen whether the police is capable to find those who were involved. NAT says that thanks to the immense help give by the LTTE to the police the case has become more complicated.

Note: not all Tamils are Muslim. In fact, Tamil Muslims have the lowest growth rate of all Muslim groups in India... ONLY 13.7% !!

Sri Lanka (which is not all Tamil) is 70 percent Hindu, 12 percent Hindu, 7 percent Muslim, and about 8 percent Christian

The Tamil in Norway certainly remind me of the Eastern Kentucky hillbillies who used to live on English avenue in downtown Indianapolis ~ they'd start firing rifles at each other across the street about rush hour every Friday afternoon.

Darned dangerous.

It wasn't movies firing them up either.
