He withdrew from the senate race because of his ongoing treatment for prostate cancer at that time. There is no evidence he withdrew because of what Hillary or her ops perhaps knew.

That’s the party line. I don’t believe it. It didn’t stop Kerry from running. Hillary would have beaten Rudy and he knew it. Now Rudy thinks that 9/11 makes him a more formidable candidate against Hillary, but he still has too much personal baggage in addition to being a RINO.

In the last election Rudy didn’t even run against Hillary. He could have weakened her big time, possibly defeated her. But no, he was too scared of her.

In April 1999, Giuliani formed an exploratory committee in connection with the Senate run. However, on May 19, 2000, before the Republican primary which he was expected to win, he withdrew his candidacy, with the stated reason that he had been diagnosed as having prostate cancer and needed treatment. Contributing factors may have been the Farmersville Garbage Scandal which significantly reduced his support in his core upstate counties and the fallout from his affair and messy divorce from his wife Donna Hanover.

You are going to get some flak giving facts instead of opinions. Giuliani is routinely trashed on FR. As far as I can tell it begins with his not being “pro-life” and ends with his dressing up as a woman for purposes of entertainment.

No doubt this article will go in the ‘Giuliani Truth File’ at the top of the page. After all the smears and hostility it is going to be hard for anyone favoring Giuliani to suddenly accept, support and vote for Thompson, Hunter et al.

In the meantime, Giuliani leads in most polls. None on FR have been able to explain this. Just the same old and same old smears dressed up with a different author.
